Kentro is hiring for a skilled and analytically driven SAM Remediation Data Engineer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs' enterprise-wide Software Asset Management (SAM) Remedi ation on ServiceNow. This role sits at the intersection of data engineering and software asset intelligence, responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the analytics infrastructure that enables data-driven decision making across the SAM program. The ideal candidate combines deep ServiceNow Platform Analytics expertise with strong data modeling skills and a passion for translating complex data into actionable compliance and optimization insights. This is a critical role in advancing the VA's SAM maturity and ensuring stakeholders have the intelligence they need to manage software assets effectively at enterprise scale.
Location: This position can be performed remotely within the United States and will support Eastern Time working hours.

Responsibilities
ServiceNow Platform Analytics Design and Implementation
- Delivering meaningful analytics requires a strong foundation in both the platform and the underlying data. This engineer will:
- Design, build, and maintain ServiceNow Platform Analytics reports and dashboards tailored to SAM program needs, including software usage, compliance status, and license optimization opportunities.
- Translate stakeholder reporting requirements into functional analytics solutions within the ServiceNow environment.
- Ensure dashboards and reports are performant, accurate , and accessible to both technical and non-technical users.
- Establish and document standards for report naming conventions, data refresh cadences, and dashboard governance.
Data Modeling and Integration
- Accurate, well-structured data is the foundation of reliable analytics. This engineer will:
- Design and implement data models that support software asset tracking, compliance monitoring, and usage trend analysis within ServiceNow SAM.
- Identify , evaluate, and integrate relevant external data sources - such as software publisher catalogs, contract data, and procurement records - into the ServiceNow platform to enrich internal analytics.
- Collaborate with integration engineers and platform administrators to ensure data pipelines are reliable, well-documented, and aligned with VA data governance standards.
- Maintain data quality standards, including validation rules, reconciliation processes, and exception handling procedures.
Predictive Analytics and Compliance Intelligence
- Proactive insight generation is central to delivering value to VA stakeholders. This engineer will:
- Develop predictive analytics models and trend analyses to forecast software usage patterns, license shortfalls, and compliance risk areas.
- Build automated alerting and exception reporting to surface high-priority compliance gaps before they escalate.
- Support software optimization analysis, identifying opportunities to consolidate licenses, retire unused software, and reduce costs.
- Partner with internal and external stakeholder s to align analytics outputs with program goals and VA needs.
Reporting, Documentation, and Stakeholder Support
- Clear communication of data findings is as important as the findings themselves. This engineer will:
- Produce recurring and ad hoc analytics reports for project leadership, VA Product Owners, and cross-functional stakeholders on a defined cadence.
- Translate complex data findings into clear, concise narratives and visualizations appropriate for both technical and executive audiences.
- Maintain thorough documentation of data models, report logic, integration mappings, and dashboard configurations to support knowledge transfer and audit readiness.
- Provide training and guidance to team members and stakeholders on interpreting and using analytics outputs effectively.
Qualifications
- Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, data science, or a related field (8 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education).
- 8 + years of experience in data engineering, analytics, or business intelligence, preferably in an IT asset management or enterprise platform context.
- Hands-on experience with ServiceNow, including Platform Analytics, Performance Analytics, or reporting toolsets.
- Demonstrated experience designing data models and building analytics solutions that integrate internal and external data sources.
- Strong proficiency in data query languages and tools (e.g., SQL, ServiceNow GlideRecord , or equivalent).
- Experience working with software asset management or IT asset management data, including software usage records, license entitlements, and compliance metrics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate ambiguous requirements into structured analytics solutions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including experience presenting data findings to leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience working in federal or compliance-driven environments strongly preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ServiceNow Software Asset Management (SAM) Pro module, including normalized software library, reclamation rules, and compliance dashboards.
- Familiarity with predictive analytics or machine learning techniques applied to IT operations or asset management data.
- Experience integrating external data sources into ServiceNow using Import Sets, Data Sources, or Integration Hub.
- ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA), ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist - SAM, or Performance Analytics certification, or willingness to obtain.
- IAITAM Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM) or equivalent certification.
- Experience supporting VA or other federal agency IT modernization programs.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies in a government contracting context.
