Position Title: Medical Simulation Training Specialist
Location: Blanchfield Army Community Hospital (BACH) Fort Campbell Kentucky
Hours: 40, M-F, excluding Federal Holidays
Position Description: OPTA Government Solutions is seeking a Medical Simulation Training Specialist to facilitate medical simulation training and operating part-task trainers, mannequin-based simulators, surgical simulators, and cadavers (site specific cases) in support of DHA Medical Modeling and Simulation Training (MMAST) Support Services Program. This individual will contribute to the design, development, testing, and implementation of training materials and scenarios in support of Military Health System (MHS) medical simulation activities. Shall also utilize approved training scenarios, when available and applicable, and provide feedback on improvements to the MMS TPOC and/or site leadership or designated representative monthly.
Overview:
• Works closely with faculty, staff, and other simulation facilitators to provide ongoing support for medical simulations or other training sessions, specializing in both the technologies and methods used in the planning, preparation, and execution of simulation-based healthcare training.
• Support the setup of simulation supplies/equipment for training scenarios based on identified learning objectives.
• Operate and maintain medical simulation equipment, audiovisual equipment, mannequins, task trainers, computerized simulators, virtual reality, and other emerging technologies.
• Coordinate and provide support for student logistics and administrative tasks.
Duties:
• Facilitate medical simulation training, utilizing part-task trainers, mannequin-based simulators, surgical simulators, and cadavers (site-specific cases) to include after action reports (AAR) and post training event close out to include maintenance reports following the completion of a training event.
• Provide an orientation to simulation equipment, the training space, and a safety briefing to newly assigned personnel and students.
• Coordinate and provide support for student logistics and administrative tasks.
• Conduct orientation and safety briefings for newly assigned personnel and students.
• Locates, maintains, manages, and tracks utilization of inventory of medical equipment, materials, and supplies; and orders or recommends replenishment when needed.
• Ensure availability, functionality, and preventive maintenance of simulation equipment and supplies.
• Provide troubleshooting documents, simulator checklists, and simulation lesson plans/scenarios.
• Review simulation encounters, including after-action reports and identified metrics, providing feedback in monthly reports.
Qualifications:
• Strong knowledge of simulation-related audio-video recording systems
• Ability to create troubleshooting documents and simulator checklists
• Familiarity with Joint Simulation Encounter Forms (JSEF) and other stipulated metrics
• Experience with DOD Medical Healthcare Environment
• Expertise with a variety of medical simulation platforms
Requirements:
• Experience in medical simulation training and operation of simulation equipment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to successfully complete a federal background check
Desired:
• Associates or Bachelor’s degree (Education, Medical, or related field) or three to five years’ related experience in education within the medical industry or three to five years of related experience as a healthcare professional in a healthcare environment (training and education), or a combination of the above (some military medical experience preferred)
• Certification as a Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) or Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) through the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) is highly desirable
• Expertise with a variety of medical simulation platforms (i.e., CAE, Laerdal, Gaumard, KGS, SynDaver/SynTissue, MOES)
