Job Description
MTSI is seeking a highly experienced Senior System Security Engineer (SSE) with Platform Information Technology (PIT) expertise to serve as the lead cybersecurity authority for acquisition programs. This senior role is responsible for shaping and managing cybersecurity strategy, Cybersecurity Assessment and Authorization (A&A) compliance, and continuous monitoring from concept and development through production and fielding until the system is transitioned to a separate sustainment team.
The successful candidate will represent the customer as an experienced System Security Professional, executing SSE responsibilities for both PIT and ground support equipment. This includes defining, refining, and integrating cybersecurity requirements; ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and directives; and independently supporting the program office across all Cybersecurity Engineering activities.

Key Responsibilities:
• Lead cybersecurity strategy, Cybersecurity A&A implementation, and continuous monitoring for PIT and PIT CS systems.
• Integrate security requirements into system design, development, upgrades, and operational processes.
• Advise Information System Owners and security leadership on system impact levels, risk posture, and compliance with laws, regulations, and policies.
• Assess threats, vulnerabilities, and system changes; recommend, implement, and validate appropriate security controls.
• Review, approve, and oversee the development of A&A documentation, including ITCSCs, AARs, SSPs, SCTMs, CMPs, SARs, RARs, MOPRs, IRPs, and POA&Ms.
• Conduct, verify, and document security assessments, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and readiness for authorization.
• Prepare and submit full system authorization packages and provide written authorization recommendations to the Authorizing Official (AO).
• Apply secure architecture, engineering, coding, and configuration principles across all phases of system development and operation.
• Evaluate system, network, and software designs for security risks and recommend effective mitigation strategies.
• Support teams developing new systems or upgrading legacy systems by providing expert cybersecurity guidance.
• Identify and resolve integration challenges resulting from new capabilities entering existing infrastructures.
• Stay informed on emerging security technologies, threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices to strengthen system resilience.
Qualifications:
• 15+ years of relevant Cybersecurity or Information Systems experience.
• Must meet Cybersecurity (DoD 8140, Work Codes 631 & 652; Intermediate level) certification requirements
o Security+, CCSP, Cloud+, CSSLP & GSEC certs
• Experience working in a DoD program or product acquisition office or environment
• Education: BS Degree must be from a ABET accredited or CAE designated institution.
• Have no less than three (3) years' experience in a Special Access Program (SAP) and/or Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) environment within the last five (5) years
• Top-Secret Security Clearance with ability to obtain SCI.
