🔧 Position Overview
PDS Defense, Inc. is seeking a Heat Treat Operator I to support heat-treating operations for a variety of aerospace and industrial materials. This role requires hands-on experience, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.
🛠️ Job Responsibilities
- Perform heat treat operations for aluminum, titanium, nickel-based alloys, stainless steel, and alloy steels
- Support heat treat scheduling to ensure proper sequencing of product
- Operate, adjust, and perform routine maintenance on furnace controllers
- Assist with batching loads for optimal productivity under operator direction
- Set thermocouples and prepare loads for proper heat distribution (training provided)
- Load and unload furnaces
- Perform furnace accuracy and uniformity surveys
- Conduct hardness testing using calibrated equipment
- Interpret hardness ratings using measuring tools and standards
- Move parts on and off pallets; handle material safely
- Follow all company procedures, safety policies, and work instructions
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation
✅ Qualifications & Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1-3 years of relevant manufacturing experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- Understanding of heat treat processes and procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one and small group settings
- Ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret bar graphs
- Basic computer skills preferred
- Forklift certification to approved O.S.H.A. standards
- Physical requirements include:
- Standing and walking for extended periods
- Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
- Lifting up to 50 lbs frequently and 100 lbs occasionally
