Systems Engineer SME (TS/SCI with Poly Required)

At GCI, we solve the hard problems. As a Systems Engineer, a typical day will include the following duties:

Perform technical resources for data engineering leveraging enterprise capabilities, where possible, to collect, ingest, format, and enrich open source data. Develop and maintain data exploitation platforms that support/enhance the data collection process. Additionally, the work will be performed within an existing team environment.

WORK REQUIREMENTS:

• Accelerate the timely, reliable, and secure delivery of publicly available data, and information, as described by the customer to support automating data collection, transformation, and exploitation.
• Provide customized products and services for a wide variety of endeavors, including all operational and targeting components defined by the customer, as well as several support elements.
• Utilize in-house capabilities and tradecraft as well as industry standards, to ensure the automated collection and structuring of publicly available, internet-based data, as specified by the customer.
• Utilize in-house capabilities as well as publicly available information and industry standards to pinpoint locations of interest.
• Work closely with the customer's product owner and program manager to deliver user stories necessary to realize product vision.
• Coordinate with multiple entities, including mission partners, to ensure tools meet defined requirements.
• Apply DevOps principles and philosophies to continuously delivery high value enhancements to software in a service-based architecture.
• Support data engineering efforts to analyze large data sets to derive data relationships.
• Maintain all source code in customer-wide, remote Git repository.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE:

• Demonstrated experience working with ElasticSearch.
• Demonstrated experience using AWS to include S3, EBS, and EC2.
• Demonstrated experience in platform and application automated deployment.
• Demonstrated experience in cloud deployment, DevOps, containerization, web service and API management, and computing optimization.
• Demonstrated experience in cloud database, storage, virtualization, and network configurations.
• Demonstrated experience implementing DevSecOps CI/CD pipelines to support a multi-tenant environment.
• Demonstrated experience incorporating automated software quality checks, security scanning, infrastructure-as-code, and other modern DevSecOps tools and practices.
• Demonstrated experience working within cloud computing environments, Linux and Unix-based operating systems, and using ElasticSearch and Kibana.
• Demonstrated experience using requirements tracking programs such as JIRA or Confluence.
• Demonstrated experience maintaining, upgrading, troubleshooting, and managing software, hardware and networks.
• Demonstrated experience installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
• Demonstrated experience monitoring system performance and troubleshooting issues.

HIGHLY DESIRED SKILLS AND DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE:

• Demonstrated experience working to accredit systems for the customer's cloud environment according to the customer's security requirements.
• Demonstrated experience in running DataCTRL ETL tool.
• Demonstrated experience using NiFi to ETL data.
• Demonstrated experience in Data Management.
