Description

The Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS) is the security and law enforcement arm of the U.S. Department of State (the Department). DS is a world leader in international investigations, threat analysis, cyber security, counterterrorism, security technology, and protection of people, property, and information. Its primary mission is to provide a safe and secure environment for the conduct of U.S. foreign policy. The Office of Security Technology (ST) supports the DS mission through the application and use of appropriate technical security countermeasures. The Countermeasures Program (CMP) and Security Technology Operations (STO) divisions are operational components within ST. CMP is primarily responsible for worldwide technical countermeasures policy for the Department. Countermeasures policies enforce the protection of sensitive and classified information. CMP also manages the overseas technical surveillance countermeasures (TSCM) program.

Job Duties:
  • Responsible for the installation and lifecycle maintenance of various RF systems at Department of State facilities for the Bureau of Diplomatic Security, Offices of Security Technology (ST) and Technology Innovation and Engineering (TIE).
  • Builds and configures RF systems, tests equipment to ensure functionality, and verifies that all RF equipment is operating properly before overseas deployment.
  • Conducts post-installation tests to confirm systems are in working order, provides training at post for Security Engineering Officers (SEOs) and Regional Security Officers (RSOs), orders materials, and conducts software testing to ensure system functionality. Additional duties include performing surveys for new installations at existing facilities.
  • Responsible for working with data throughout its lifecycle, including collection, management, analysis, reporting, and secure disposition, to support maintenance and operational requirements.


Requirements

  • Current U.S. Government final Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
  • Eligible for and able to obtain and maintain required security clearance/access approvals.
  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering or IT-related field preferred.
  • Three years of prior experience as an electrician or installer of technical security equipment required.
  • Prior knowledge of RF/wireless testing and installation preferred.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD/Visio preferred.
  • Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated experience working with data throughout its lifecycle, including collection, management, analysis, reporting, and secure disposition.
  • Demonstrates a good attitude and ability to work as a leader and member of a team.
  • Ability to multi-task efficiently, work


Required to travel OCONUS to conduct installation, training, or maintenance at diplomatic facilities. OCONUS travel may include critical threat locations around the world with austere living conditions. Domestic travel may be required for training and program coordination.
