Location: Mesa, AZ 85215
Position Type: 6 months assignment with possible extension.
Shift Schedule: 6:00 AM -2:30 PM
Summary:
Are you a precision-minded Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) operating expert ready to drive quality and innovation? We’re seeking a talented individual to join our advanced manufacturing team. You’ll program, review, and optimize NC/CMM processes — applying your GD&T expertise and laser tracking know-how to ensure world-class measurement integrity.
This position may be located primarily on 1st or 2nd shift and follows a Monday - Friday working schedule. Initial training and intermittent support may be required on alternate shifts. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future depending on the business needs. Successful candidates will have experience with CNC Machining, Composite machining, writing inspection programs, CMM and hand measurement tools.
Position Responsibilities:
• Set up, program, validate, and run CMM measurement routines for machined and composite components.
• Perform first-article inspections, in-process inspections, and audit measurements using CMM, on-machine probes, laser tracker, and hand measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, gage pins, etc.).
• Review and verify NC/CMM programs for accuracy and repeatability; act as an NC/CMM Programming Reviewer as needed.
• Interpret engineering drawings and apply GD&T to create and follow inspection plans.
• Record and document measurement results, generate inspection reports, and communicate findings to manufacturing and engineering to support disposition and corrective actions.
• Perform routine calibration checks and basic verification of metrology equipment; coordinate formal calibration as required.
• Mentor and train operators/inspectors on CMM operation, probing best practices, and use of hand measuring instruments.
• Work under general direction and escalate complex issues to engineering or quality as required.
Required Skills:
• 3+ years hands-on experience performing inspections and programming CMMs and other dimensional measurement systems (e.g., CMM, laser tracker, photogrammetry, portable arms, or on-machine probing).
• 3+ years’ experience applying GD&T to inspection tasks and interpreting engineering drawings.
• 3+ years’ experience performing inspections using on-machine probing and/or laser-tracking systems.
• Proficiency with hand measurement tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, gage pins, etc.) and experience using them for verification and troubleshooting.
• Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and ability to work directly on the shop floor.
Preferred Skills:
• 5+ years related inspection/CMM experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience programming and operating PC-DMIS or other CMM software.
• Experience working from CAD models to develop CMM routines.
• Experience with composite and metallic part inspection, including knowledge of composite layup and machining considerations.
• Previous experience mentoring or training other inspectors/operators.
Typical Education/Experience: Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Associate) and typically 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Bachelor+1 years' related work experience, 5 years' related work experience, etc.).
