Incident Manager III

Arlington, VA

Support mission-critical cybersecurity operations for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) by coordinating incident response and ensuring operational continuity in high-responsibility environments.

What You Will Do

You will support cyber incident management and operations by:
  • Managing cyber incidents across the full incident response lifecycle
  • Maintaining accurate and timely reporting within case management and ticketing systems
  • Coordinating with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders to drive response efforts
  • Ingesting, validating, and analyzing information to determine appropriate courses of action
  • Tracking and updating incidents with consistency, accuracy, and reliability
  • Drafting summaries and reports and delivering briefings to leadership
  • Maintaining knowledge records and documentation within systems of record
  • Supporting risk-based prioritization of incidents using national-level frameworks such as NCISS
  • Assisting in threat and vulnerability analysis, including identification of threat actors and attack patterns
  • Supporting teams engaged in network monitoring, security operations analysis, and system hardening

Required Qualifications
  • Active TS/SCI clearance
  • Ability to obtain DHS Suitability
  • 5 or more years of experience in cyber incident management or cybersecurity operations
  • Strong understanding of incident response methodologies and lifecycle management
  • Familiarity with NIST 800-62 and FISMA reporting requirements
  • Knowledge of the NCCIC National Cyber Incident Scoring System for incident prioritization
  • Understanding of cyber attack stages and adversary tactics
  • Ability to recognize and categorize vulnerabilities and associated threats
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Incident Management, Operations Management, or related field
  • Additional years of relevant experience in place of a degree
  • Familiarity with MITRE ATT&CK framework and threat environments ranging from non-state to nation-state actors
  • Knowledge of system and application vulnerabilities and exploit techniques
  • Experience with operating system hardening and cyber defense policies and procedures
  • Certifications such as Security+ or GCIH
