As a Program Cost Control Analyst - Level 3 (Principal) or Level 4 (Senior Principal), your role at Dulles, VA will be pivotal in supporting missions critical to national and global security. Our Program Cost Control Analyst will help prepare budgets and schedules for contract work and assist with financial analyses such as funding profiles, sales outlooks, cash forecasting and variance analysis. You will also work to ensure adequate funding availability by maintaining accurate records of expenditures, directing preparation for expenditure projections and submitting timely requests for additional funding to the government.

This position's standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Set up cost control systems (e.g. CostPoint and COBRA) and incorporate changes into the cost management system to maintain cost and schedule baselines
  • Support audits and reviews requested by programs, customers, and company management
  • Ensure adequate funding availability by maintaining accurate records of expenditures, directing preparation of expenditure projections, and submitting timely requests for additional funding to the government
  • Assist CAMs with performance management activities including: WBS alignment, time phasing of the tasks, developing and documenting performance methodologies, monthly performance measurement, estimate to complete analysis and updates, and variance analysis research and reporting
  • Conduct cost analysis to develop EACs, generate financial inputs, and support monthly cost and schedule reviews
  • Other duties as assigned


This position may be filled as either a level 3 Principal Program Cost and Schedule Control Analyst or level 4 Senior Principal Program Cost and Schedule Control Analyst.

Basic Qualifications for Level 3:
  • Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of professional experience - OR - Master's degree with 3+ years of professional experience. Will consider an additional 4+ years of experience in lieu of degree
  • Experience with financial systems including cost performance reporting and analysis
  • Experience with MS Office including Excel (with Macros, Pivot tables and VLOOKUP) and PowerPoint
  • Requires an active U.S. Government DoD Top-Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope


Basic Qualifications for Level 4:
  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years of professional experience - OR - Master's degree with 6+ years of professional experience. Will consider an additional 4+ years of experience in lieu of degree
  • Experience with financial systems including cost performance reporting and analysis
  • Experience with MS Office including Excel (with Macros, Pivot tables and VLOOKUP) and PowerPoint
  • Requires an active U.S. Government DoD Top-Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or Business Administration
  • Program Cost Control experience to include supporting monthly reporting and financial business rhythm
  • Defense industry experience
  • Earned Value Management (EVM) experience
  • Experience with FAR/DFAR
  • Experience with Costpoint, Cobra, and Cognos

Primary Level Salary Range: $94,200.00 - $141,200.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $117,500.00 - $176,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
