Zachary Piper Solutions is currently seeking a Sr. Network Engineer to support a mission-critical U.S. Government customer based in Washington, DC . This position is a full-time, onsite role supporting highly secure enterprise and tactical networking environments. This role is critical to the design, modernization, and operational excellence of business-critical network infrastructures. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will provide expert-level engineering support across voice, video, RF, and data networks while working directly with government stakeholders to deliver resilient, scalable, and secure solutions.

This role is critical to the design, modernization, and operational excellence of business-critical network infrastructures. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will provide expert-level engineering support across voice, video, RF, and data networks while working directly with government stakeholders to deliver resilient, scalable, and secure solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate Government and stakeholder requirements into complete network engineering solutions, including reconfiguration, hardware/software acquisition, installation, testing, and upgrades.
- Provide executive-level technical support to government agencies for the design, deployment, and optimal operation of enterprise and mission networks.
- Apply current and emerging networking technologies, protocols, and platforms to solve complex engineering challenges and drive innovation.
- Collaborate directly with customers to evaluate, analyze, and integrate new technologies to modernize existing network solutions.
- Deliver full-spectrum network engineering support for current and future Enterprise and Tactical Networks.
- Provide Tier 3 and Tier 4 engineering support, including architecture, design, configuration, hardware lifecycle, and process management.
- Design and develop voice, video, radio-frequency (RF), and data communications networks.
- Perform expert-level analysis, planning, design, evaluation, selection, and upgrades of operating systems and protocol suites.
- Configure and optimize communications media, concentrators, bridges, and related networking devices.
- Plan network layouts and tailor system configurations to meet user and mission environments.
- Analyze network topologies, traffic flows, and capacity requirements to ensure performance and scalability.
- Support acquisition efforts for hardware, software, and subcontractor services as required.
- Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and leadership to junior and mid-level network engineers.
- Serve as a technical lead or task lead on assigned efforts.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant networking technologies and standards.
- Operate independently with initiative while adhering to established guidelines and delivering clear, effective communication.
Requirements:
- Active Top Secret (TS) clearance with SCI , or the ability to obtain TS/SCI.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) - Collaboration (current).
- Willingness and ability to obtain Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) - Collaboration .
- DoD 8140 / 8570 IAT Level II certification or higher , such as:
- Security+ CE
- CCNA Security
- GICSP, GSEC, or SSCP
- Proven experience developing IT documentation, including checklists, SOPs, and technical guides.
- Strong self-starter with a proactive mindset and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to travel up to 10% as required by mission needs.
