What will you be doing?

The Technical Program Engineer serves as the senior technical governance authority supporting Department of the Air Force (DAF) Google Workspace (GWS) deployments executed by third-party implementation teams. This role provides independent architectural review, security validation, and technical risk assessment to ensure all GWS deployment and migration activities align with DAF enterprise requirements, DISA security standards, DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF) controls, and Zero Trust principles.

The position does not perform primary system implementation. Instead, the Technical Program Engineer validates design integrity, compliance posture, integration alignment, and migration readiness prior to production deployment. The role provides the Government with structured technical oversight and mission-focused assurance during enterprise collaboration modernization

Key Responsibilities:

Architecture & Technical Governance
  • Review and validate High-Level Designs (HLD), Low-Level Designs (LLD), and implementation plans developed by third-party teams.
  • Ensure architectural alignment with DAF enterprise cloud strategy and interoperability requirements.
  • Identify non-compliant configurations, integration gaps, and technical risks.
  • Provide documented findings and remediation recommendations.
  • Participate in design reviews and milestone evaluations.

Security & Compliance Oversight

Validate alignment with:
  • DISA STIG requirements
  • DoD RMF controls
  • DAF cybersecurity policy
  • Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) principles

Review implementation of:
  • Identity and access controls (RBAC, MFA, least privilege)
  • Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and retention policies
  • Audit logging and monitoring configurations
  • Support ATO/IATT documentation review and technical control validation.

Identity, Integration & Migration Validation
  • Review federation architecture (SSO, SAML/OIDC) and directory synchronization designs.
  • Validate integration with DAF identity systems, enterprise security tools, and monitoring platforms.
  • Assess third-party migration sequencing, rollback planning, and readiness criteria.
  • Provide technical go/no-go recommendations prior to cutover events.
  • Government Advisory Support
  • Serve as technical liaison between Government stakeholders and implementation vendors.
  • Deliver executive-level briefings summarizing compliance status and risk posture.
  • Support performance-based milestone acceptance reviews.


Required Qualifications
  • Active Secret Clearance.
  • Minimum 8 years of enterprise cloud, collaboration platform, or cloud security experience.
  • Minimum 5 years in a technical oversight, architecture review, or governance role.
  • Experience supporting DoD or Federal IT programs.
  • Demonstrated experience aligning SaaS platforms to DISA STIGs, RMF controls, and Zero Trust principles.

Strong knowledge of:
  • Identity federation and enterprise IAM architectures
  • Cloud security controls and compliance validation
  • Technical risk assessment and mitigation planning

Required / Preferred Certifications

DoD 8570/8140 Baseline:
  • IAT Level II (minimum) Preferred: IAM Level II or III

Strongly Preferred:
  • CISSP
  • CCSP
  • Google Professional Cloud Architect
  • Google Workspace Administrator

Additional Preferred:
  • CASP+
  • TOGAF
  • CISA

Preferred Experience
  • Prior support to USAF, Space Force, or DAF enterprise modernization initiatives.
  • Experience participating in Design Review Boards (DRBs).
  • Experience supporting ATO or IATT package development.
  • Experience conducting compliance assessments against DISA baselines.
  • Experience providing executive-level technical risk assessments in regulated environments.

Preferred locations:

Certain states and localities require employers to post a reasonable estimate of salary range. A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position is $165,000 to $180,000.00 annually. Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including shift, location, experience, skill set, performance, licensure and certification, and business needs. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ. Certain positions may also be eligible for variable incentive compensation, such as bonuses or commissions, that is not included in the base pay.
