Position Summary

The VCF Operations Architect is responsible for designing, optimizing, and guiding the ongoing operations of VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments to support customer and business outcomes. This role focuses on operational architecture, including lifecycle management, platform stability, performance optimization, and continuous improvement of VCF environments.

This position works closely with client operations teams, consultants, and internal stakeholders to ensure VCF platforms are running efficiently, securely, and in alignment with best practices. The architect regularly uses VMware platforms including VCF, SDDC Manager, vSphere, NSX, and vSAN, and is expected to operateindependently, communicate clearly, and deliver high-quality operational outcomes in a fast-paced consulting environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and guide operational models for VMware Cloud Foundation environments, including lifecycle management and platform governance

• Lead assessments of existing VCF environments and provide recommendations for performance, scalability, and operational improvements

• Oversee lifecycle operations using SDDC Manager, including upgrades, patching, and environment health management

• Develop and document operational standards, runbooks, and procedures for VCF platform management

• Partner with client operations teams to improve monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across VCF, including compute, network, and storage layers

• Coordinate with infrastructure, networking, and security teams to ensure alignment of operational practices

• Identify risks, constraints, and inefficiencies in current operations and recommend improvements

• Support automation and optimization efforts to improve operational efficiency and consistency

• Deliver consulting services aligned to client processes and operating models

Required Qualifications

• Experience in technology consulting or professional services environments supporting infrastructure operations

• Experience operating and supporting VMware Cloud Foundation or similar software-defined data center environments

• Strong familiarity with lifecycle management, upgrades, and patching of VMware platforms

• Experience with platforms such as SDDC Manager, vSphere, NSX, and vSAN in production environments

• Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues across compute, network, and storage

• Experience contributing to operational design discussions or platform optimization initiatives

• Ability to manage multiple operational priorities in a consulting or delivery environment

• Strong written and verbal communication skills in client-facing environments

Required Skills

• VCF Lifecycle Management: Ability to manage and guide upgrades, patching, and lifecycle operations using SDDC Manager and related tools

• Platform Operations and Optimization: Ability to monitor, tune, and improve performance across compute, network, and storage layers

• Troubleshooting and Root Cause Analysis: Ability to diagnose complex infrastructure issues and implement sustainable solutions

• Automation and Operational Efficiency: Ability to identify opportunities for automation and improve repeatability of operational processes

• Documentation and Runbook Development: Ability to create clear operational procedures, runbooks, and standards for ongoing platform management
