Position Summary

The NSX Architect is responsible for designing and guiding the implementation of VMware NSX solutions to support customer and business outcomes. This role focuses on hands-on architecture, including translating requirements into scalable network and security designs, and supporting delivery teams through implementation.

This position works closely with clients, consultants, and internal stakeholders to ensure network virtualization and security solutions are aligned to best practices. The architect regularly uses VMware NSX and related platforms and is expected to operate independently, communicate clearly, and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced consulting environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and document NSX architectures, including logical networking, routing, segmentation, and security policies

• Lead discovery sessions and design discussions to gather business and technical requirements

• Translate requirements into scalable and secure network virtualization solutions

• Provide architectural guidance to delivery teams during implementation and deployment

• Validate designs and troubleshoot issues across NSX environments, including Tier-0 and Tier-1 routing, edge configurations, and failover scenarios

• Partner with infrastructure, security, and application teams to align network and security design with overall architecture

• Identify risks, dependencies, and constraints within network designs and adjust approach as needed

• Maintain clear design documentation, diagrams, and standards for delivery and operational handoff

• Deliver consulting services aligned to client environments, including operating within client processes and standards

Required Qualifications

• Current experience architecting and delivering VCF environments at enterprise scale.

• Deep understanding of compute, storage, networking, and software-defined data center (SDDC) architecture principles.

• Strong consulting and client-facing communication skills.

• Ability to work independently and lead complex technical initiatives.

Required Skills

• Customer Consulting and Advisory: Ability to lead customer discussions, gather networking and security requirements, and translate them into architecture decisions

• NSX Architecture and Design: Ability to design logical networks, routing, segmentation, and security policies using NSX

• Network Virtualization Expertise: Ability to implement and support overlay networking, Tier-0/Tier-1 routing, and edge services

• Security and Microsegmentation: Ability to design and apply distributed firewall policies and segmentation strategies to meet security requirements

• Technical Problem Solving: Ability to diagnose complex network and connectivity issues and adjust designs during implementation

• Documentation and Communication: Ability to create clear network diagrams, design documents, and communicate effectively with stakeholders

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ability to work across infrastructure, security, and application teams to ensure successful delivery
