Facilities Planner III

This position requires an active Secret clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret clearance to be considered.

Cherokee Federal is seeking an experienced Facilities Planner III to support the Marine Forces Reserve (MARFORRES) Facilities Directorate. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and optimizing the use of physical spaces while supporting the execution of FSRM and MILCON projects across the MARFORRES enterprise. The ideal candidate has experience in automation engineering, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Fire & Gas systems, Human-Machine Interface (HMI) design, and troubleshooting, along with strong project management and communication skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation & Benefits:

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Facilities Planner III: $90,000 - $95,000

Pay commensurate with experience.

Facilities Planner III Responsibilities Include:
  • Monitor and report progress on MILCON / Military Construction Reserve Force (MCNR) projects and update and monitor documents of MCNR and FSRM project status to ensure milestones are being met. Report all construction impacting project cost and schedule. Provide monthly status reports.
  • Participate in pre and post award construction project design meetings, reviews, design charrettes, site survey visits, and meetings to validate project requirements and phasing / swing space plans. Analyze contract drawings / specifications (including technical RFPs) and review for compliance with project planning documents (e.g., BFRs, DD Form 1391 documents, special studies). Coordinate with subject matter experts of supporting actions or services and assist in preliminary preparation of required documentation.
  • Assist with coordination and planning activities in the development of construction phasing plans impacting unit operations for FSRM and MILCON projects.
  • Coordinate with MARFORRES, Federal Construction agencies (NAVFAC / USACE or other DOD / Federal agency), and site Marines on all pre/post award activities from major milestones, contractor site visits, meetings, conference calls, to funding requirements impacting project cost and schedule.
  • Participate in all contractor meetings to include PAK, weekly meetings, and milestone site visits. Coordinate between bldg. occupants and contractor for all activities negatively impacting unit operations.
  • Manage the construction contractor Requests for Information (RFIs) ensuring timely responses. Routinely visit construction sites to monitor progress and solicit daily input from the Construction Manager / Engineering Technician / Quality Assurance (ET/QA) representatives and CQC reports; attend QC meetings including preparatory meetings involving critical work activities.
  • Conduct pre-final and final inspection of project to include punch list review and project closeout meeting.
  • Coordinate and receive all project close-out documents and warranty information for each project and work with the Closeout Team to ensure historical records are maintained in SharePoint.
  • Maintain a record of project progress, submit monthly project updates, and coordinate key milestones with external stakeholders and MARFORRES' Government representatives.
  • Travel required (approximately 50%).
  • On-site work schedule preferred; however, remote work negotiable.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned


Facilities Planner III Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:
  • An Engineering/Construction related Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • Or Certification in Construction Manager (CM), Certified Associate Construction Manager (CACM) or Construction Quality Management for Contractors certifications.
  • 8-10 years of construction management experience in large industrial projects preferred.
  • Experience working with US Government construction agencies (NAVFAC/USACE) highly desired.
  • 8-10 years US Military experience in a related position or field is preferred (U.S. Marine Corp. experience is desired).
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral & written
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Demonstrate the ability to carry out support tasks related to facilities operations as presented.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
