Compensation:
• Recent Graduate Range: $145,200 – $170,000
• Experienced Range: $145,200 – $220,000

Description:
We are seeking an Embedded Systems Architect to support the design and development of advanced electronic systems for next-generation space and national security applications. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies including satellite systems, RF subsystems, and resilient space architectures within a highly collaborative, research-driven environment.

You will play a key role in architecting, developing, and deploying embedded systems, working across multidisciplinary teams to solve complex technical challenges and deliver mission-critical solutions.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead the design, development, and implementation of embedded systems for advanced space applications
• Architect and decompose complex processing chains into modular components
• Develop and integrate FPGA-based systems and embedded firmware
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams on research and prototyping efforts
• Conduct hardware-in-the-loop testing and support field demonstrations
• Debug and validate systems in both simulation and real-world environments
• Present technical work to stakeholders and support program initiatives

Basic Qualifications
• Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field with 8+ years of experience
◦ OR Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of relevant experience
• Experience with one or more of the following:
◦ FPGA-based digital design
◦ Embedded systems or microcontroller design
• Hands-on experience with:
◦ VHDL, Verilog, and/or SystemVerilog
◦ FPGA implementation, including constraint development
◦ Firmware testing and debugging (simulation and hardware)
◦ Digital interfaces (e.g., SPI, PCIe, Gigabit Ethernet)
• Laboratory experience with test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, etc.)
• Experience in digital signal processing (analysis and/or implementation)
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and within teams
• Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications
• Active Top Secret (TS) security clearance
• Expertise in computer architecture and embedded system tradeoffs (bare-metal vs. RTOS)
• Experience working in Linux-based development environments
• Proficiency with scripting (Python, Bash, TCL, Perl)
• Familiarity with MATLAB, C/C++, or other scientific programming languages
• Experience with version control and modern development practices
• Hardware design experience (schematic capture, PCB layout, bring-up)

Work Environment & Travel
• Primarily onsite in Lexington, MA
• Occasional travel may be required for field testing, demonstrations, and stakeholder engagement

This position offers a competitive base salary within the ranges listed above. Final compensation will depend on experience, skills, and internal equity considerations.
