The Systems Integration and Engineering (SIE) organization is implementing a major initiative to significantly improve our capabilities and performance. A key part of this is a focus on improving System Design Integration. To drive this effort, we are creating a new technical leadership position within the Systems Integration department.
The Lead Systems Engineer for SE 2.0 will be the catalyst for a company wide cultural shift that fuses rapid execution with uncompromising technical rigor. Reporting to the Systems Engineering 2.0 Director, this role will design, champion, and embed new ways of working that eliminate bottlenecks, embed artificial intelligence (AI) into everyday SE activities, and restore customer confidence in our technical deliverables.
In this role, you will:
• Provide direct technical assistance to programs through activities such as pursuit/proposal support, independent reviews, and anomaly investigation teams.
• Lead and be an active participant in Systems Engineering improvement initiatives. Improve and maintain formal command media and informal Mechanical Integration guidance as well as templates/tools provided to programs
• Improve Systems integration training material and assist the department manager in identification and allocation of Integration resources to programs
• Support the development and verification of system requirements and document & manage accordingly
• Support major program reviews including Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM), Proposal Technical Adequacy Reviews (PTAR), System Requirements Review (SRR), Design Reviews (PDR, CDR) and Flight Test Readiness Reviews (DTRR, XRR, MRR)
• Offer guidance to Systems Engineering teams, covering the entire Systems Engineering lifecycle, from architecture and requirements development, system integration, verification and validation, all the way through mission operations.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelors or higher degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent education with professional experience and specialized training commensurate with this assignment.
• 10+ years combined experience in systems design and integration
• Experience as a Systems Engineer in program engineering lifecycles performing requirements derivation, decomposition, and verification.
• Experience in all lifecycle phases from program start to mission operations
Desired Skills:
• Experience with a new program start-up in a technical leadership role.
• Experience in a technical proposal leadership role (e.g., technical solution lead, volume lead or section lead, etc.).
• Experience communicating effectively, both internally with peers and Program leadership as well as externally with customer counterparts.
• 20 years of experience (or 15 years with a MS) in a Systems Engineering related environment.
• IPT or Technical Leadership experience
• Extensive technical mentoring experience
• Experience in process development/improvement
• Experience as independent reviewer
• Experience developing training material and as an instructor

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $151,200 - $266,570. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
