Job Description

Eiden Systems Corporation (ESC) is seeking a UX Engineer / Front-End Engineer – TAK (ATAK/WinTAK) to serve as a technical leader within the Team Awareness Kit (TAK) ecosystem, directly supporting mission capabilities that protect the warfighter.

This is not a traditional UX role. You will operate at the intersection of user experience, software engineering, and tactical systems, shaping how real-time geospatial data is delivered to operators in high-stakes, time-sensitive environments.

If you have experience with ATAK, WinTAK, or TAK Server and want to build tools that are used in real-world operations, this role offers the opportunity to make a direct operational impact.

What You’ll Do:

Design for Mission Execution-
• Design and implement intuitive, operator-focused interfaces across ATAK (Android), WinTAK (Windows), and TAK Server
• Translate complex workflows into clear, actionable UI experiences for users in high-pressure environments

Build Cross-Platform Solutions-
• Develop modular, reusable UI components to ensure consistency across mobile and desktop platforms
• Enable seamless data interoperability across distributed TAK nodes
Visualize Complex Data-
• Transform real-time geospatial and streaming data into meaningful visualizations that reduce cognitive load
• Support both field operators and mission analysts with tailored UX approaches

Extend TAK Capabilities-
• Develop and enhance TAK plugins using Java or Kotlin to meet evolving mission requirements
• Integrate new capabilities into existing TAK environments with minimal disruption

Optimize for Tactical Environments-
• Configure and tune systems for air-gapped and DIL (Disconnected, Intermittent, Low-bandwidth) conditions
• Ensure performance and usability in austere and resource-constrained environments

Required Qualifications:
• Active Top Secret (TS) clearance (TS/SCI preferred)
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 3–5 years of experience in UX/UI development
• Proven experience with ATAK, WinTAK, or TAK Server in operational or enterprise environments
• Strong development experience in Java and modern front-end frameworks (React, Angular, or Vue)
• Experience integrating front-end applications with APIs and complex data streams
• Proficiency with GitLab or similar version control platforms

Preferred Experience:
• Experience supporting U.S. Army, DoD, or mission-focused programs
• Proficiency in Kotlin, Python, or Ruby for plugin development and system integration
• Deep understanding of Cursor-on-Target (CoT) messaging and TAK Data Packages
• Experience building high-performance, Java-based UI applications
• Familiarity with SQL or MongoDB for managing operational data
