Job Description

Duties

  • You will research plans, drawings, sketches, technical manuals, factory specifications, job order specifications, and TRIREFFAC directives to assure that electronic equipment meets specifications.
  • You will test, troubleshoot, analyze, repair, overhaul, rebuild, modify, align, and calibrate complex integrated electronic equipment.
  • You will modify electronic equipment by adding, altering, and removing components to standardize or alter the purpose of the equipment or to incorporate new features.
  • You will repair TRIDENT submarines to meet production goals and command mission.
  • You will communicate clearly with others verbally and in writing to ensure clarity of mission and objectives.

  • This position requires a physical and valid U.S. passport.
  • This position is designated as IT-I, as defined in SECNAV M-2210.30.
  • This position may require travel worldwide at which time additional medical screening may be required.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Top Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Ability to repair, align, and adjust major integrated electronic components, systems, and subsystems comprising submarine exterior communications systems; understand and predict the progressive effects of malfunction throughout the interrelated subsystems; utilize a variety of instructional methods to teach safety precautions, work sequences, technical specifications, and other trade practices consistent with the objectives to be accomplished; read and comprehend technical, diagnostic, operational, and electronic repair manuals, schematic circuit diagrams, formulas, one functions diagrams, and the ability to trace the effects of changes in one subsystem to other integrated subsystems.

Light to moderate physical exertion is required in lifting/carrying items weighing from 10 to 40 pounds occasionally lifting up to 110 pounds with assistance.

Eyesight must be corrected to normal and color perception is required for identifying color-coded electrical components.

Work is performed at two primary locations: Refit Industrial Facility and onboard TRIDENT fleet ballistic missile submarines.

Some outside work on the submarines may be necessary, dependent on testing or troubleshooting required.

May be required to work overtime, second or third shift.

Work may be required onboard submarines and at sea for short periods of time (sea trials, etc.)
