Job Description

Duties

  • You will provide formal classroom instruction/outdoor field physical training (PT) and formal classroom instruction/swim training in accordance with established Remedial Physical Training course and Remedial Swim course.
  • You will administer Physical Standards Tests in compliance with directives.
  • You will maintain instructors' and students' aircrew training jackets.
  • You will review curricula and Standard Operating Standards and recommend corrective action to promote quality of instruction and safety guidelines.
  • You will ensure students are mustered and delivered on-time for administrative and training evolutions conducted by other organizations for remedial PT/swim training deficiencies.

  • Must successfully obtain and maintain instructor qualifications meeting the requirements of a Navy Enlisted Classification Code (NEC) 805A unless previously qualified. Initial qualification is required within two months of employment.
  • Must pass High Risk Instructor screening in accordance with OPNAV 1500.75 upon appointment.
  • Must successfully graduate from the Basic Swimming and Water Survival Instructor Training Course (A-012-1014) within three months of employment.
  • Position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain ARC lifeguarding, CPR, and first aid certifications within three months of employment to perform water- rescues and treat accidents/injuries that can occur during water survival training.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Providing instruction to students on physical fitness and swim training; 2) Administering physical fitness and swim test to evaluate knowledge of student; and 3) Entering training entries to properly document progress of student on physical fitness and swim training events.

*** Immediately upon employment, individual must pass the Navy's Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA) to include the Body Composition Assessment (BCA) using Guide 4 of OPNAV 6110.K(series) and the Physical Readiness Test (PRT) with minimum score of Good-Low for the individual's age group using Guide 5 of OPNAV 6110.K(series). Physical requirements must be maintained throughout employment and are subject to annual testing.***
