Reporting to the Program Manager, the Media Specialist III is responsible for performing a variety of logistical functions, including shipping and receiving, discrepancy reporting, receipt and issue, physical inventory maintenance, reporting, utilization reporting, storage, material distribution, and tracking activities supporting the NUWC Code 25 Advanced Interactive Management Technology Center (AIMTC).This is a contingent position expected to be located in Newport, RI.

What You'll Do
  • Staff media centers to ensure continuous coverage (24/7 at two locations; weekday coverage at a third); develop and submit monthly staffing schedules
  • Receive, screen, and process incoming mail, including classified materials
  • Log, track, distribute, and account for classified media using tracking systems (e.g., BITS), supporting high daily transaction volumes
  • Verify markings; check classified media in/out; facilitate transfers of custody and ownership
  • Catalog and maintain records for new and existing media in accordance with established procedures
  • Process shipment documentation (e.g., DD1149), coordinate pickups/deliveries, and track classified shipments through receipt confirmation and tracer actions
  • Conduct periodic and ad hoc inventories of media holdings; maintain accurate inventory records
  • Oversee secure handling, destruction, and disposal of classified media and IT equipment, including burn bag procedures and required documentation
  • Provide guidance to personnel on proper handling, transmittal, and destruction procedures for classified materials
  • Maintain documentation for daily operations, including opening/closing procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Digitize hardcopy media (e.g., tapes, drawings, documents) for secure storage, retrieval, distribution, and archiving; ensure quality control standards
  • Support data management policies and records management alignment, including identification and control of data requirements
  • Attend coordination meetings and support cross-functional communication efforts
  • Review, maintain, and file contract-related documentation (e.g., DD254s) for compliance and logistics tracking
  • Maintain required system access and accounts to support classified and unclassified operations
  • Support departmental communications, collaboration tools, and documentation repositories (e.g., SharePoint, Teams)
  • Bid and proposal support if requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications:

  • An active secret clearance is required to be considered for this position.
  • HS Diploma required.
  • At least three (3) years of experience with media classification marking requirements and guidelines.
  • At least tjree (3) years of experience managing personnel work schedules, with demonstrated proficiency in coordinating multiple staff members.
  • Must possess basic computer literacy and data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (to include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Must possess strong time management skills.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to remain seated in a stationary position 50% of the time. Must also be able to alternate between sitting, standing, and walking.
  • The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing, or recurring and considerable walking, stooping, bending, crouching, and climbing such as performing regular shop activities, inspections, or to observe and study operations in an industrial or comparable work area, or on-board ships, submarines, and/or in weapon facilities.
