Program Description:
Ennoble First leads DISA's Technology Engineering Services (TES) program, providing technical and engineering support for pilot projects, technology prototypes, and emerging technology research. We deliver system integration, evaluation, and O&M across cloud environments and lab infrastructures. This role supports systems architecture design, integration, and virtualization efforts that directly contribute to the lab's mission to develop, test, integrate, and sustain cutting-edge systems in support of DoD innovation.
Position Description:
Ennoble First is seeking an experienced Solutions Engineer to join our small, self-sufficient infrastructure team as a key technical innovator. In this role, you will be responsible for the architecture, automation, and security of our primarily on-premise environment. You will be called on to utilize your hands-on experience in Kubernetes, Ansible, VMware, Windows, and Linux. As a lifelong learner, you will be empowered to research, demonstrate, and champion emerging technologies-from agentic AI to advanced security platforms-to bridge our current systems with the future, shaping our technical landscape and driving innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Solution Design & Implementation: Architect, deploy, and maintain robust, scalable solutions with a focus on containerized workloads (Docker, Kubernetes) and modern data platforms in a lab environment.
- Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain automation using Ansible playbooks and scripting (Python, PowerShell, Bash) to streamline infrastructure provisioning, configuration, and operational tasks.
- Technology Research & Innovation: Proactively research, evaluate, and conduct proof-of-concept demonstrations for emerging technologies, with a focus on agentic AI, Vector/Graph DBs, and new security tools.
- Security Integration & DevSecOps: Embed security throughout the solution lifecycle. Actively manage and utilize tools like Nessus, Checkmarx, and NeuVector for vulnerability scanning and container security.
- Vulnerability Management & Remediation: Identify, track, and remediate system vulnerabilities based on findings from IAVAs, CVEs, and STIG compliance checks.
- System Administration & Management: Administer Linux and Windows systems across virtualized (VMware) and containerized (Kubernetes) environments, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Monitoring & Analytics: Manage and support core infrastructure monitoring, logging, and analytics platforms, particularly the Elastic Stack.
- Technical Liaison: Act as a technical expert supporting DISA civilian leadership, providing clear documentation and elevating the team's overall capabilities.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, or a related field (or 4+ years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree).
- 3+ years of progressive experience in systems engineering, systems design, or infrastructure automation.
- Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Proven experience developing and maintaining automation using Ansible.
- Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar).
- Experience working in virtualized environments (VMware).
- Experience administering both Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Proficiency with Git for version control and as a source for application deployments.
- Solid understanding of network protocols and system integration.
- Familiarity with identity and access management concepts (Active Directory, Entra ID, SSO).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with DISA or Department of Defense (DOD) systems and U.S. government network environments.
- Experience working in lab, R&D, or prototyping environments.
- Familiarity with enterprise server management.
- Knowledge of the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch) for logging and analytics.
- Experience with security tools like Nessus, Checkmarx, or NeuVector.
