Looking for a Drafter/CAD Operator opportunity where your technical skills directly support the U.S. Army's most critical command post modernization efforts? Serco supports the U.S. Army as a prime contractor for the Next Generation Command and Control (NGC2) contract, which implements capabilities that enable the Army to deploy Command Posts across the operational spectrum. Our team develops, integrates, and maintains modern and mobile solutions for an integrated command and control infrastructure.
You will be part of a close-knit engineering and technical team that works directly with the customer and cross-functional Serco teams to deliver quality systems and supporting documentation. In this role, you will:
- Prepare, modify, and maintain complete sets of complex engineering drawings, including multiple views, detail drawings, and assembly drawings for metal fabrication and system integration.
- Develop and update CAD models and drawings from engineer-supplied concepts, sketches, models, and verbal information, selecting the most appropriate views and supplementary detail needed to complete each assignment.
- Apply mathematical formulas as needed to compute dimensions, weights, center of gravity, load capacities, and quantities of material.
- Assist in the preparation and maintenance of Technical Data Package (TDP) elements, including drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and interface documentation.
- Select and apply information from technical handbooks, manufacturers' catalogs, drafting standards, and established precedents to resolve drafting problems independently.
- Support design reviews, configuration audits, and technical working groups by providing accurate and current drawing documentation.
- Recommend drafting or design modifications to enhance clarity, manufacturability, or compliance with applicable standards.
- Collaborate with engineers, manufacturing, quality, and logistics teams to ensure drawings meet cost, schedule, and performance requirements.
- Follow established engineering processes, quality management procedures, and configuration control practices.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- The ability to obtain an interim Secret Clearance.
- A High school Diploma
- 5 years of relevant drafting and CAD experience.
- Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, PTC CREO, or AutoCAD
- Experience with standard engineering documentation practices.
- Ability to travel up to 50%.
Additional desired experience and skills:
- Familiarity with MIL-STDs, technical drawing standards, and configuration management principles.
- Experience developing Technical Data Packages including Level 2 and Level 3 drawings, BOMs, and subassembly documentation.
- Experience supporting government programs such as Army PEO C3T, PdM CPMod, PdM CPI2, or equivalent.
