Northrop Grumman Space Systems-Missile Defense Integration offers an excellent opportunity for a Sr Principal Engineer Software - Software Architect (ENT) (26-131) to join our team of talented and diverse professionals. Located in Colorado Springs, CO, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.

Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key component of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, collectively monitor the battle, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It serves as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations globally and regionally to improve performance. C2BMC is essential for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of missile defense systems.
The candidate will be a member of the C2BMC Enterprise Services team on the Regional Applications Agile Release Train (ART). Responsibilities will include defining and overseeing the implementation of the software architecture for a Java-based missile defense command and control system, and ensuring it is consistent with the architecture design tenets of the C2BMC program. This includes providing direct technical support to the Chief Engineer and Chief Architect and coordinating across engineering disciplines (e.g., Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Integration & Test, Operations & Sustainment).

Primary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $193,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.

Essential Functions:
- Perform trade studies and analysis for current and future C2BMC development activities.
- Maintain the software architecture artifacts for the CFPT
- Oversee the development of CFPT software design
- Determine the ramifications and impacts of proposed architectural changes to the software baselines
- Analyze system performance to include quantifying performance, identifying bottlenecks, and measuring throughput
- Support briefings, presentations, and demonstrations to customers
- Support the analysis, design, and implementation of cyber requirements in the software
- Collaborate with program architects to implement enterprise architecture intent and guidance
- The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work independently, and the flexibility to work in a highly dynamic environment and represent C2BMC to the highest levels of the MDA/BC customer
- The candidate must be a self-starter who can initiate research and clearly document results
Basic Qualifications:

- A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master's degree in a related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or 12 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
- Applicants must have a current, active DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, CND, etc.) at the time of application, which is required to start. The candidate is responsible for maintaining their DoD 8140 certification throughout the entire contract period
- Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start with the ability to obtain Top Secret and the eligibility to be read into SCI
- Willingness to travel 10% of the time for business needs
- The candidate must have software engineering and architecture experience in large software systems, including:
- Experience designing scalable, extensible, maintainable distributed software systems
- Experience in performing logical and physical modeling
- Experience with the Java programming language and developing software throughout the full software lifecycle
- Understanding of modern architecture paradigms, e.g., event-driven or service-oriented
- Effective communicator across technical and leadership levels
- Experience mentoring and educating other engineers
- Drive solutions by navigating technical and programmatic constraints
- Experience conducting trade studies and software engineering analysis
Preferred Qualifications:
- Applicants with a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application with the eligibility to be read into SCI are highly preferred
- Familiarity with Information Assurance (IA) and Cybersecurity principles, static and dynamic security assessment tools (e.g., SonarQube, OWASP ZAP), Secure Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), and secure system architecture
- Knowledge and experience with virtualization, containerization, and orchestration
- Ability to apply automation and CI/CD pipelines to enforce standards to drive quality and test repeatability
- Previous experience with missile defense and command & control systems is highly desired
- Experience with Test Driven Design (TDD) methodology strongly desired
- Lead architecture development and coordination by defining clear relationships between internal and external components. Effectively communicate architectural intent, purpose, and constraints to varied stakeholders, including customers, developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users
