Deployment Consultant
(Expert) - Server Builds/VMware DOD Clearance Secret or better (AC)
Location: 70% Travel, 30% Remote (Any Location)
DOD Top Secret Clearance preferred, all candidates with Secret or above clearance accepted for submission. Submit candidates at market rates for this skillset/clearance. REQUIRED SKILLS:
· Expert Linux skills
· Strong background and experience with VMware
· Strong knowledge of container platforms (Kubernetes)
· Working knowledge of networking
· Working knowledge of storage
· Experience with at least one public cloud provider preferred
70% Travel, all travel-related costs covered outside of the standard site.
JOB DESCRIPTION: The Deployment Engineer will be responsible for the start-up and integration of proprietary and 3rd party products and services at classified data center environments. The ideal candidate will have a broad range of experience with industry-standard virtualization tools for compute, networking, and storage. The candidate must have an expert understanding of Linux, a strong background with virtualization, knowledge of data center networking, and knowledge of data center storage. Experience with start-up and integration tasks in a classified environment is required. The candidate should have experience building infrastructure including OS Image lifecycle, STIG processes, and troubleshooting and debugging issues.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES: • Install, patch, and configure software and virtualization products on top of hardware. • Integrate identity and security across multi-vendor products. • Plan for and execute adding new tools to the private cloud environment as needed for adding capabilities. • Remediate security vulnerabilities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Must have an active Secret clearance or higher
• VMware is key skill
• Expert level experience?
• How recently have they built/deployed VM's from scratch? Part of cloud build or migration?
• What scale of VM's? 100? 1000+?
• How would they go about deploying 1000+ VMs? GUI or Command Line/Backend? Do they have experience doing this hands on, themselves, from scratch, with no assistance from other teams?
• Linux/RHEL is #2
• Expert level experience?
• Can they build and deploy Linux OS from scratch for a new cloud environment?
• How recent is the experience, to what scale, and can they do it from scratch without assistance from other teams?
• This is a very hands on, engineering focused, technical role - so we're trying to evaluate how much someone has done themselves vs being part of a team or directing others who are doing the heavy technical lifting
