Aircraft Mechanic II

Location: Whiteman AFB, Missouri
Contracting Organization: 509th Maintenance Group (MXG)
Clearance Required: SECRET

Schedule:
The Contract Field Team (CFT) operates across three shifts to support mission requirements. Work schedules may include weekends as needed.
• Day Shift: Monday–Friday, 0700–1600
• Swing Shift: Monday–Friday, 1500–2400
• Mid Shift: Monday–Friday, 2300–0800

Position Overview:
The Aircraft Mechanic II performs Organizational, Intermediate, and/or Depot-level maintenance on aircraft and Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE) in support of the 509th Bomb Wing mission at Whiteman AFB. This role is primarily focused on Low Observable Aircraft Structural Maintenance (LOASM) for B-2 aircraft, ensuring all assigned aircraft are maintained and restored to mission-ready status in accordance with technical directives and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Primary (LOASM – B-2 Aircraft)
• Perform Low Observable Aircraft Structural Maintenance (LOASM) on B-2 aircraft in accordance with technical orders and directives
• Evaluate, install, remove, and repair low observable (LO) coatings
• Fabricate, modify, and repair aircraft structures and components including metal, composite, bonded, and advanced composite materials
• Ensure aircraft meet mission-ready standards through precise structural and coating repairs
Ancillary Maintenance
• Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on B-2 and T-38 aircraft, including TCTOs and modifications
• Execute sheet metal and structural repairs, including component installation, removal, and reinstallation
• Conduct corrosion control and preservation treatments on aircraft, AGE, and support equipment
General Aircraft Maintenance
• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain aircraft systems including:
• Flight controls
• Engines and powertrain systems
• Hydraulics and pneumatics
• Fuel systems
• Electrical and mechanical components
• Interpret technical publications, blueprints, and manufacturer manuals to diagnose and resolve system malfunctions
• Utilize specialized tools and test equipment including torque wrenches, micrometers, dial indicators, and sheet metal equipment

Training Requirements
Personnel must complete required initial and recurring Government-provided training, including but not limited to:
• Aircraft systems and structures familiarization
• B-2 cockpit, egress, and surface awareness training
• Corrosion control and hazardous material handling
• Safety, PPE, and hazardous waste training
• Security and escort training (PSEC, Phase I & II)
• Flightline and maintenance certification training
• Technical publication and documentation systems training

Minimum Qualifications
• Minimum one (1) year of aircraft maintenance experience
• Working knowledge of:
• Aircraft structural and sheet metal repair
• Mechanical systems troubleshooting and repair procedures
• Technical publications and maintenance documentation
• Basic knowledge of electrical theory
• Experience using aircraft maintenance tools and precision measuring equipment
• Ability to interpret technical data, drawings, and manuals
