Help
As deputy to the commander, plans, organizes, and oversees the day-to-day support activities that the Squadron provides to the installation, 11 AF, Alaskan Command (ALCOM) and Headquarters Pacific AirForce. Provides higher level management direction to subordinate Flights Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities. With the LRS Commander, directs, coordinates, and oversees the work of more than 341 personnel through subordinate supervisors. Represents the LRS with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. Establishes, develops, and maintains effective working relationships with installation command; commanders and deputies of other squadrons and groups on the installation Directs and/or leads special projects and initiatives and provides advice to key installation officials regardinglong-term planning, functional technical advice and guidance, and continuity of management. Identifies theneed for special projects and initiates milestones and goals that impact mission accomplishment.

The duties of this position meets all requirements as a category 4 designation, and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent Federal Agency or office to function effectively. This position must be removed from the Ready Reserve and CAN NOT become a member of the Ready Reserve. (IAW: DoDD 1200.7, "Screening the Ready Reserve,")
-This is a Mission Essential (ME) position performing a Mission Critical Function (MCF) which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions. IAW, DoDI 3020-42, Defense Continuity Programs.
This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety
In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Series 0346.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-12, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes; Specialized experience includes Knowledge of large, complex organizations that provide logistics support; air, surface and sealift transportation, vehicle maintenance; contract transportation; contingency operations, at home station and deployed; as well as other functional support to large installations with many buildings, facilities, roads, storage/warehousing and DoD Fuels/Cryogenic fluids. Knowledge of the policies, practices, regulations, and laws concerning acquisition and logistics management
processes and initiatives. Knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, and organizational structures that govern, interface with, and/or influence the logistics management program processes. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time--in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-12 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-13 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of large, complex organizations that provide logistics support; air, surface and sealift transportation, vehicle maintenance; contract transportation; contingency operations, at home station and deployed; as well as other functional support to large installations with many buildings, facilities, roads, storage/warehousing and DoDFuels/Cryogenic fluids.
2. Knowledge of the policies, practices, regulations, and laws concerning acquisition and logistics management processes and initiatives.
3. Knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, and organizational structures that govern, interface with, and/or influence the logistics management program processes.
4. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures.
5. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors.
6. Ability to analyze, plan, coordinate, and adjust work operations of multiple organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
