Systems Administrator
Contract to Hire
Aberdeen, Maryland
On-Site
Hourly Rate: $35/hr. W2
Annual Salary: $70,000 to 75,000 plus benefits
Requires Interim Secret Clearance or Higher
System One is seeking a System Administrator to work for a government client in Aberdeen, MD. This is an exciting opportunity to bring your skills to the table and join a great team.
The Systems Administrator plays a role in client relations and the success of the project. Key to the success of this position is the successful delivery of projects and effective communication to all levels of staff for reporting project status.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Troubleshoot system outages to resolve the problem and recover the services to maximum performance in the shortest amount of time possible.
• Ensure that all client services, including underlying hardware and software, meet all DoD 8500 series and NIST 800-53 security requirements.
• Maintain core functionality of servers, ensuring systems are running optimally, reliably, and efficiently.
• Upgrade, maintain, and provide security patches on servers, including occasional scheduled after-hours patching.
• Implement and monitor server backup and restore operations as defined in government SOPs.
• Develop systems architecture and other system engineering/administration documentation.
• Create test plans to allow for a proper evaluation of hardware and software being considered for implementation.
• Provide written testing results before putting systems into production.
• Implement and monitor testing and installation of patches, updates, additional tools, and future versions of all software.
• Perform full beta-testing to ensure full functionality and integration with all services before applying changes to production systems.
• Participate in Change Management Control process and submit Requests for Change as needed.
• Administer system security tools, to include ACAS, and Trellix ESS/ePolicy Orchestrator.
• Ensure STIG checklists and associated artifacts for all technologies are reviewed, and validation results are posted.
• Develop and deploy custom software packages to update third-party software.
• Respond to and remediate security scan findings provided by Cybersecurity engineers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum HS Diploma with 7+ years of overall applicable experience, or 5+ years’ experience with a BA or BS preferred.
• Interim Secret is allowed until full Secret clearance.
• Obtain and maintain (if you don't already possess) a computing environment certification relevant to job duties (must have within 6 months of hire).
• DoD 8570.01-M baseline certification at time of hire.
• Experience with upgrading, maintaining, and providing security patches and updates.
• Experience with Change Management Control process and submit Requests for Change.
• Experience with the RMF (Risk Management Framework) process and understanding of requirements for an ATO package submission.
• Experience with the following technologies:
o Windows Server
o VMware vSphere and Cloud Director
o Microsoft IIS
o Apache Tomcat
o PowerShell scripting for task automation
o Splunk Enterprise
• Must be able to work independently.
• Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be able to follow instructions and provide support to all team members.
