Directs all phases of assigned location program objectives from inception through completion. Responsible for site specific technical statement of work / performance and overall site operations. He/she responsible for all site day to day activities of assigned program site, including employees timesheets, performance evaluations, property control, facility, safety, security and daily production and directs the work of employees assigned from technical, manufacturing and administrative areas. He/she provides leadership, guidance, and career development to all site employees. Ensures adherence to Northrop Grumman and Human Resources policies.

Some of the specific job duties will also be:

  • Directs the technical performance of all phases of the New Construction, from pre-planning through completion. Provides on-site NGSC-MS field engineering technical support for the SITP during New Construction in installation and checkout of launcher hardware, and testing, launcher subsystem correction of defects, implementation of SPALTs
    • Identify priorities and provide support as needed to meet Shipyard projected work/testing and all contractual requirements.
    • Provide inputs to the Shipyard and SP22 for preparation of the Project Event schedules, Integrated Test Plan (ITP), GFE/GFM equipment delivery schedule and equipment installation/test schedule.
    • Monitor shipyard practices to prevent equipment damage and ensure authorized procedures are implemented.
    • Coordinate tactical hardware and support equipment deliveries to the Shipyard.
    • Prepare weekly Field Reports, review and approve locally prepared documentation.
    • Identify program risks and recommend risk mitigation strategies to the Shipyard and SP.
    • Provide resolution to on-site problems.
  • Provides technical and administrative direction for all employees assigned.
    • Establish and maintain policies and practices unique to Shipyard operations and environment, including quality, safety, and performance.
    • Evaluate and document performance of all employees assigned.
    • Provide training to Shipyard and contractor personnel for Launcher Equipment installation, test, maintenance, and operation.
  • Provides liaison and coordination with NGSC-MS, Shipyard, Ship's Force and SP 22.
    • Represent NGSC-MS at site meetings and conferences with the Shipyard, Ship's Force, and other contractors.
    • Maintain security requirements.
    • Provide support of NGSC-MS S/V Program Office for all New Construction related issues, planning, configuration control, and status.


Basic Qualifications for the Site Manager 2:
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM major with 8 years or more experience in Leadership and/or work experience in Submersible Ship Ballistic Nuclear (SSBN), or Ship Submersible Guided Missile Nuclear (SSGN), or Strategic Weapons Systems operations, or Shipyard Integrated Test Program, or Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or System Engineering or a Masters degree in a STEM major with 6 or more years of experience in Leadership and/or work experience in Submersible Ship Ballistic Nuclear (SSBN), or Ship Submersible Guided Missile Nuclear (SSGN), or Strategic Weapons Systems operations, or Shipyard Integrated Test Program, or Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering or System Engineering
  • Experience within a government maintenance environment
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a government maintenance or operations/assembly environment
  • Current active DOD Secret clearance
  • Experience effectively communicating with various levels of leadership
  • Travel 10 - 25% and flexibility with work schedule (periodic shift and weekend work may be required)


Preferred Qualifications for the Site Manager 2:
  • Master's degree in a STEM major
  • Demonstrated history leading and management of multi-functional teams
  • Experience on the D5 Launcher Subsystem and Launcher Support Equipment.
  • Experience working in a SSBN new construction or overhaul shipyard.
  • Experience in an environment with strict procedural compliance.

Primary Level Salary Range: $127,100.00 - $190,700.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
