The Work

The Database Administrator, Senior will perform advanced database administration and management functions in support of highly complex applications characterized by sophisticated data models, multi-stage workflows, and extensive reporting requirements. This position will provide expert leadership in the design, development, maintenance, optimization, and migration of integrated database systems, ensuring that applications conform to enterprise structural and security standards.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain Oracle databases and supporting infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and availability.
  • Lead migration efforts from on-premises Oracle databases to Oracle Cloud, including integration with cloud-based storage.
  • Automate and enhance workflow efficiency by transitioning cron jobs to Oracle Database Jobs.
  • Monitor database health, tune performance, and manage storage capacity, addressing bottlenecks as needed.
  • Implement and manage strategies for backup, restoration, disaster recovery, and data security.
  • Administer Oracle GoldenGate for data replication and synchronization.
  • Direct database changes, review programs, and provide technical support to programmers, analysts, and users.
  • Ensure database interfaces and reporting comply with accessibility standards.
  • Evaluate and integrate user data requests, maintaining data integrity and minimizing redundancy.
  • Perform logical and physical data modeling, and maintain standardized data definitions.
  • Assist with database software installation, testing, and selection.
  • Develop, enforce, and adhere to database administration standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned .

  • 10 years of experience in database administration.
  • 8 years of experience with Oracle and Microsoft SQL.
  • 8 years of experience in database design, analysis, and performance tuning.
  • 8 years of experience designing enterprise applications and/or services.
  • 8 years of experience creating technical and functional design documentation.
  • 8 years of experience within the software development life cycle using Agile methodology (e.g., Scrum).
  • 8 years of experience with multi-tier system/application development (e.g., SOA, Microservices, 3-Tier applications).
  • Must be able to pass a background check. May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.

  • Proficient in MS Office, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to build trust and maintain relationships across technical and business teams.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6 years of experience with extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes to integrate data from various sources into Azure SQL.
  • 4 years of experience working with large volume databases, high availability systems, and disaster recovery infrastructure.
  • 4 years of proficiency in converting and adapting database structures for cloud environments, specifically Azure.
  • 3 years of experience configuring PowerBI environments and developing PowerBI reports.
  • 3 years of experience with DevOps technologies, including CI/CD pipeline, build and deployment tools such as Git, and working with Azure.
  • 2 years of experience migrating on-premises databases to cloud environments, with emphasis on Azure.
  • Azure certification.
  • DBA Associate certifications.

Working Conditions
