PDS Defense, Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer 5, in Bohemia, NY. Job ID#216375
Pay Rate: $72 - $77/hr
Job Description:
• Define and solve technical problems in manufacturing, assembly, and testing environments.
• Implement cost-saving and process improvement initiatives on assigned product lines.
• Collaborate with design engineering teams to enhance manufacturability of products.
• Develop efficient production workflows and determine optimal sequencing of operations.
• Prepare cost estimates for proposed projects and analyze cost factors.
• Support facility layouts for manufacturing processes and equipment as needed.
• Solve manufacturing challenges of varying complexity.
• Design tools, fixtures, and gauges using SolidWorks or similar to improve manufacturing processes and address safety concerns.
• 3D printing of fixtures.
• Create detailed assembly work instructions using Microsoft Power Point.
• Program laser printers and develop operator instructions for laser printing processes.
• Utilize RTX-Lifecycle-Program-Management (RLPM) for New Product Introduction projects (NPI) to develop build plans for new designs.
• Develop and maintain production routers and bill of materials.
• Collaborate with quality and suppliers to resolve quality and technical issues.
• Conduct compliance reviews to ensure conformance with customer specifications and requirements.
• Support the project pipeline process to select, prioritize and scope projects to increase First Pass Yield and throughput across the value stream
• Support the project pipeline process to select, prioritize and scope projects to business objectives, integrated with other continuous improvement activities and CORE initiatives.
• Drive targeted manufacturing process optimization activities using MRL tools such as Process Control Plans and PFMEA
Required qualifications:
• Proficient in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
• Experience in fast paced and/or highly regulated aerospace or space manufacturing environments.
• Experience supporting machine operations, including fixture/tool design, tool life management, routing/work instructions, and CNC programming familiarity.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve operational goals.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Effective technical communication, documentation, and collaboration skills.
• Self-starter mindset with ability to work autonomously and lead complex manufacturing initiatives.
• Knowledge of PFMEA, process validation, SPC, RCCA, control plans, and configuration control practices.
• Familiarity with structured continuous improvement frameworks
Preferred qualifications:
• Experience working in an engineering, manufacturing, and/or production environment
• Experience with 3D modeling software (SolidWorks).
