Overview:
The individual is required to carry out the monitoring duties outlined in the QA Program Manual. They should have knowledge of sampling plans, statistical methods, AQLs, procedures for reporting noncompliance, and other assessment processes. Responsible to report discoveries and conclusions to the Inspection Manager.
Major Activities Performed:
- Conduct scheduled routine inspections on all vessels in the inventory ( e.g., fire and flooding alarms; integrity and security; hull preservation; CO2 bottles; cathodic protection; and dehumidification).
- Performs quality assurance inspections of ongoing and completed work and follows up to ensure corrective actions are completed.
- Conduct compartment closeout inspections in conjunction with ship's force personnel during the decommissioning process.
- Inspect Equipment removals, Cannibalization removals and work performed by the Maintenance Department to ensure quality workmanship and safety and security of the job site.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of the alarm system s and Remote Transmitter Unit (RTU) systems.
- Demonstrate proficiency and accuracy in maintaining Department files.
- Demonstrate proficiency in conducting assigned inspection including use of multi- meter for electrical checks of Dehumidification (D/H), Fire and Flood (F/F) and Cathodic Protection (C/P) systems.
- Travel is required up to 25%.
- Position requires frequent use of vertical or inclined ladders and periods of kneeling, stooping, or maneuvering in close quarters .
- May be exposed to moving objects, high elevations, sharp edges, poor illumination, inclement weather, and other potentially hazardous conditions.
- General knowledge of the NTSM 050 instruction and requirements.
- As other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum :
- T wo (2) years' experience in inspection of ship maintenance related activities .
- High School Diploma and/or GED (desired)
- Knowledge of shipboard systems.
- Must be a licensed driver.
- Active Secret Security Clearance or the ability to obtain one.
Preferred :
- Four ( 4 ) years' experience in inspection of ship maintenance-related activities and prior military experience .
Knowledge Required:
- General knowledge of s ystems installed on board ships and procedures for regular equipment maintenance.
- Ability to use inspection checklists and clear ly document results.
- Ability to use mechanical and electronic inspection and measurement tools .
- Must become certified as a Shipyard Competent Person and AHERA Building Inspector within 90 days of hiring.
