Overview

i3 is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer with a strong software background to support the Small Uncrewed Aircraft Systems (SUAS) Product Office. This role involves providing oversight across the full software lifecycle, including requirements development, system design, integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will deliver technical solutions to complex challenges requiring in-depth analysis and evaluation of multiple factors. Responsibilities include overseeing the integration of government-owned controller software and managing Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) software updates across SUAS platforms.

Candidates with knowledge of Agile software development methodologies are preferred. The role requires strong communication skills, including the ability to deliver technical and programmatic briefings, and the capacity to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across multiple organizations.

This position operates in a fast-paced environment focused on rapidly delivering capabilities to end users. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, sound judgment in recommending solutions, and a commitment to improving software processes and efficiency. Critical thinking, logical analysis, adaptability to shifting priorities, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team within a government program office are essential for success in this role.

This candidate should be able to use general guidance to develop direction and communicate that direction to a team to accomplish goals and objectives.

This position is located in Huntsville, AL at Redstone Arsenal.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, or a related field. Additional years of experience may be substituted for degree.
  • Five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience.
  • Two (2) years or more experience in Aviation products.
  • Experience with the development of systems/sub-systems requirements, systems and software integration, developmental and operational test planning and execution preferred.
  • Ability to analyze systems' compliance with MOSA principles.
  • Experience viewing SySML models w/in Cameo software tools.
  • Ability to derive user requirements and communicate those to prime contractors.
  • Strong attention-to-detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate successfully as part of a diverse team in a dynamic and deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent communication, outstanding initiative, aggressive problem-solving and task management skills as well as excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Ability to encourage, inspire and participate in teamwork.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • DoD Secret clearance and the ability to maintain a Secret Clearance is required.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regular i3 hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, however, additional hours may be required on occasion. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
