Job Description

MANTECH seeks a motivated, career and customer-oriented Engineering Launch Support System (ELSS) Engineer to join our team at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, FL.

The Engineering Launch Support System (ELSS) Engineer will leverage their strong technical background and knowledge to perform Launch Support Center (LSC) coordination, engineering, and project management duties. You will support a fast-paced, evolving launch engineering environment for the National Security Space Launch (NSSL) program.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Managing Launch Support Centers (LSC) and program architecture to ensure all mission communication requirements are validated and mission-ready.
  • Developing and coordinating launch mission operational voice, video, and data support requirements for the NSSL program.
  • Providing ELSS Coordinator (EC) support during mission operations, including troubleshooting and reporting outages to service providers.
  • Evaluating new ELSS requirements and performing project execution management in integration with the NRO and Space Launch Delta 45.
  • Managing asset utilization schedules and performing conflict resolution to ensure continuous operational capabilities.
  • Ensuring support systems like HVAC, UPS, and security for ELSS assets are maintained in partnership with facility managers and security teams.
  • Assisting with the evaluation and update of program documents, including System Requirements (SRD) and Interface Control Documents (ICD).


Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or a related STEM field.
  • 12+ years of experience within DoD, Launch, Range, or Spacelift environments.
  • Significant experience with launch communication systems, including data transport, operational voice, video, and networking.
  • Ability to support mission operations during non-standard business hours and across multiple launch attempts.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS) facilities, processes, providers, and operations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Project and Visio applications.
  • Proven ability to work independently or in a team environment while maintaining a positive professional attitude.


Clearance Requirements:
  • Current Secret clearance to start
  • Position requires a TS/SCI so you must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.


Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%.
  • Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations.
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, including working under consoles and within communication racks.
