The TEKsystems Team supports the United States Navy in their goal of providing reliable and secure information services to their shore-based networks. TEKsystems has an opening for Communications Network Engineer, Mid to support their team, in providing IT Services.
Qualifications:
• Active Secret Clearance
• CompTIA Security+ ce certification or similar for 8570 requirement for IATII
• Knowledgeable engineer in the field of Ethernet and IP data engineering with 4 plus years’ experience as a Network Technician.
• Position requires a high level of project coordination skills to manage the execution of maintenance activities and network outages.
• Fundamental understanding of the OSI Model is required.
• Experience must include operational support, and configuration of network devices such as servers, routers, switches, associated software tools, and cabling in a large LAN/MAN/BAN/WAN environment.
• Knowledge of network protocols such as OSPF, BGP, and EIGRP is a Plus.
• Knowledge and experience working with wireless technologies, Virtual Private Networks (VPN), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), and WAN Accelerators and associated technologies is highly desirable.

Overview of Duties:
• Handled outage and maintenance tickets servicing more than 20000 users across more than 12 sites since March 2016 through onsite and remote troubleshooting assistance for layer 1 – 3 issues, hardware installations of new and upgraded routers, switches, McAfee intrusion prevention systems, Aruba wireless controllers, Riverbed Steelhead WANX’s, device configurations and reconfigurations, and LAN/WAN outage recovery.
• Troubleshooting outages and resolve network related issues.
• Local element for COMSEC – given briefings on troubleshooting TACLANES, Trained to re-key the TACLANES.
• Install and upgrade network devices and components. This includes switches, routers, and network monitoring devices.
• Expected to understand, implement, and follow processes in accordance with current policies and procedures. Performed escalation and additional tasks as directed.
• Investigated, resolved, documented, and reported the cause and corrective actions in the Incident Management System for all incidents assigned by the Service Desk.
