Help
  • You will interface with all levels of military, civilian and contractor personnel to provide security management of assigned VX-20 programs.
  • You will function as the VX-20 Security Manager and a technical expert to internal and external contacts for matters relating to Force Protection, Physical Security, Information Security, Operations Security and Industrial Security for the Squadron.
  • You will interpret and analyze security regulations, methods, practices, or techniques to develop options, recommendations, or decisions.
  • You will prepare and conduct security training to ensure personnel are informed of security program requirements and comply with agency security procedures, instructions, and policies.
  • You will interface with appropriate project and security personnel to anticipate future security requirements and conduct long-term planning to address shortfalls in order to meet the future program and Squadron security needs.
  • You will accomplish other duties as assigned.

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.
  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position with work role codes: 723 (COMSEC MANAGER), and 451 (SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR), as well as proficiency level: Basic.
  • As a condition employment, you must obtain and maintain all required qualifications under DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce standards and applicable Department of the Navy policies.
  • This is a designated as a Security Professional Education Development (SPeD) position with a Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) requirement. You must meet these requirements within 24 months of assuming the position.
Qualifications

For this Security Specialist, DA-0080-05 position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11/12) or pay band (DA-4) in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Examples of specialized experience include: 1) Developing, maintaining, and documenting security plans, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), instructions, and implementation plans for the organization to meet Force Protection, Physical Security, Information Security, Personnel Security, and Industrial Security policy, directives, and best practices; 2) Developing and conducting security training, briefs, and correspondences on a periodic basis to ensure agency personnel are well informed of security program requirements and comply with security procedures, instructions, SOPs, and policies; and 3) Preparing, reviewing, and evaluating security documentation to ensure adequate protection is provided in meeting the terms within the security program requirements.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

You have successfully completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. or equivalent degree as related to this Security Specialist position.
OR
You have successfully completed an LL.M. degree that is related to this Security Specialist position being filled.
OR
You have a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience. Note: Your percentage of the required education plus your percentage of the required experience equal one hundred percent.
