Job Description

Duties

As a Director of Inspections, GS-1801-12, you will plan, organize, resource, and direct the execution of a wide range of complex inspection activities for the wing Commander's Inspection Program (CCIP). Apply an extensive knowledge of installation operations and DoD, DAF, and G-MAJCOM guidance to direct complex strategic planning and exercise efforts. Responsible for organizing and analyzing data from inspections and exercises across the DoD with the goal of identifying and communicating trends. Oversee and manage the WIT conducting inspection and exercise activities. Serve as a qualified complaint resolution representative providing advisory services to individuals, other staff offices, managers, supervisors, and employees concerning the IG program and processes. Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Employee will be required to wear and use personal protective equipment as required and provided by the employer.
  • May be required to travel by car, in military and/or commercial aircraft, and by other means of transportation as appropriate to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • IAW AF guidance, incumbent must complete the wing Inspector General Training Course Inspections (IGTC-I) within 180 days of appointment
  • Must complete Inspector General Training Course Complaints Resolution (IGTC-Q) within 180 days of appointment

This is a Title 5 Excepted Service position in the Pennsylvania Air National Guard.

TEMPORARY PROMOTION/REASSIGNMENT:
Currently employed permanent technician selected will occupy this position as a Promotion not to exceed or Reassignment as appropriate in their present status

GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Experience in progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : Application must indicate at least 36 months experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been planning and directing inspections that incorporate Department of Defense (DoD), Department of the Air Force (DAF), gaining major command(s) (G-MAJCOMs), National Guard Bureau (NGB), state, wing, local instructions, and laws for regulatory guidance; determining how many inspections/exercises can be accomplished based on available manpower and resources; and researching and determining or recommending appropriate actions or interpretation of issues that impact organization, wing, command, or agency.

QUALITY OF EXPERIENCE: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed. The applicant's record of experience, training, and education must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position to be filled.
