Position Overview
Quantum Science Solutions (QSS) is seeking a Systems Administrator to support the design, implementation, and sustainment of enterprise Windows environments within a modern, multi-cloud infrastructure. This role will contribute to the development of a centralized patching capability, focused on standardizing and automating patch management processes across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud environments.
The selected candidate will provide technical expertise in Windows Server administration and cloud-based patching solutions, supporting the deployment, operation, and continuous improvement of secure and scalable systems. This role requires strong knowledge of patch management practices, automation tools, and cloud-native services, along with the ability to collaborate with stakeholders, support evolving cybersecurity objectives, and drive consistency across enterprise environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Support the design, deployment, and sustainment of enterprise Windows environments.
• Build and support a unified, automated patching capability.
• Standardize patch processes across environments.
• Prioritize critical updates aligned with cybersecurity objectives.
• Leverage automation to reduce manual effort and improve consistency.
• Support metrics, transparency, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Engineer and implement standardized patching methodologies across AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud environments.
• Automate patch identification and deployment using tools such as AWS Systems Manager Patch Manager.
• Execute patching activities in alignment with established patch management guidelines.
• Conduct baseline assessments to identify process gaps, inefficiencies, and automation opportunities.
• Contribute to the refinement of patching workflows, metrics, and operational processes.
• Integrate cloud-native services across AWS, Azure, and Google to improve performance, resilience, and scalability.
• Evaluate and implement AI capabilities to automate patch management processes.
• Contribute to enterprise cloud and DevOps standards, guidelines, and best practices.
• Serve as a central point of coordination between teams, government stakeholders, and tenants during patching cycles.
• Establish and track metrics such as patch compliance, deployment timelines, and automation performance.
• Participate in regular operational reviews to ensure alignment with evolving priorities.
• Support iterative improvements based on stakeholder feedback and operational data.
Mandatory Skills & Experience
• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Active Secret clearance; must be able to obtain TS/SCI clearance and DHS Suitability.
• 8+ years of applicable hands-on experience.
• Expertise with Windows Server 2022/2025 administration.
• Experience building and securing Windows Server environments.
• Experience with cloud-based patch management administration.
Education Requirement
• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
Desired Skills
• Experience with AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud environments, including understanding of the Well-Architected Framework.
• Experience with ServiceNow and SharePoint Server.
• Advanced experience with Windows Server 2022.
Desired Certifications
• DoD 8570.1 IAT Level II (EX: CompTIA Sec+, CySA+, Cloud+)
• Cisco CCNA Security
• GIAC Security Essentials Certification (GSEC)
• AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Certification
