Sr. Network Engineer (Unified Communications)

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support a mission-focused organization delivering secure, enterprise-scale networking solutions within the federal defense and intelligence community. This position is on-site in Washington, DC. The Senior Network Engineer will lead the design, implementation, and optimization of complex enterprise and tactical network environments supporting business-critical and mission-essential operations. This role offers the opportunity to directly impact national security by modernizing and securing next-generation network infrastructures.

Responsibilities for the Senior Network Engineer include:

• Design, deploy, configure, and support enterprise voice, video, data, and wireless network infrastructures
• Translate government and stakeholder requirements into scalable network architectures, upgrades, and modernization efforts
• Provide Tier 3 and Tier 4 engineering support, including troubleshooting, performance optimization, and capacity planning
• Evaluate emerging network technologies and recommend innovative solutions to improve reliability, security, and performance
• Serve as a technical leader, mentoring junior engineers and supporting documentation such as SOPs, checklists, and technical guides

Required Qualifications for the Senior Network Engineer include:

• 10+ years of experience in network infrastructure and network security engineering
• Hands-on experience with Cisco-based environments and technologies (LAN/WAN, routing, switching, firewalls, wireless), with exposure to Fortinet, Palo Alto, Aruba, or Arista preferred
• Strong knowledge of network protocols, application transport, and enterprise architecture design; ability to independently learn and adapt to new technologies
• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred
• Active Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility (or the ability to obtain TS/SCI)
• CCNP and IAT II
• Ability to travel 10%

Compensation for the Senior Network Engineer includes:

• Salary Range: $160,000 - $215,000 depending on experience
• Full Benefits Package: PTO, Paid Holidays, Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), Tuition Reimbursement, Sick Leave as required by law
