The Director of Business Development is responsible for managing and executing the complete BD life cycle process from opportunity assessment through proposal execution across multiple simultaneous pursuits. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Build and execute strategic account plans, including stakeholder mapping, mission priorities, competitive landscape analysis, and growth targets.
- Identify and develop strategic partnerships with prime contractors, subcontractors, and technology providers to accelerate SecureStrux' s entry into priority DoW programs.
- Develop a qualified pipeline aligned to the company's offerings; manage opportunity flow from identification through award.
- Lead capture planning: win themes, discriminators, price-to-win inputs, solution shaping, and internal/external decision briefs.
- Shape opportunities early by influencing requirements, acquisition approaches, and evaluation criteria within ethical and compliant boundaries.
- Create and manage teaming strategies, including NDAs, teaming agreements, and partnership frameworks in coordination with contracts and legal teams.
- Drive proposal readiness with cross-functional teams (engineering, delivery, contracts, finance, pricing); ensure artifacts are complete and on time.
- Maintain accurate forecasting and CRM hygiene, report pipeline health, probability, and next actions to leadership.
- Develop and maintain relationships across program offices, PEO/PM organizations, contracting offices, small business offices, and mission stakeholders.
- Identify and pursue relevant contract vehicle opportunities and on ramps that expand SecureStrux' s market access.
- Support post-award transition: handoff to delivery, executive sponsor cadence, customer success plans, and growth options.
- Represent SecureStrux at industry events, conferences, and mission-focused working groups.
- Support post-award transition activities, including customer engagement planning, executive sponsor coordination, and follow-on growth opportunities.
Success in This Role
Success will be measured by the ability to:
- Build a $50M-$100M qualified pipeline within 12 months
- Win $10M-$20M+ in new contract awards within 24 months
- Expand SecureStrux presence within Army and DISA cyber mission programs
- Establish 3-5 strategic partnerships with major prime contractors
- Position SecureStrux on 2-3 relevant contract vehicles

What You'll Bring
- 12+ years of federal business development, capture, or growth leadership experience with direct experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD)/DoW customers; Army and/or DISA experience strongly preferred.
- Existing relationships within targeted Army commands/PEOs/PMs and/or DISA directorates and mission partners.
- Experience helping scale a Small Business: expanding addressable contract vehicles, building/leading teaming strategies, and institutionalizing repeatable BD/capture processes.
- Proven track record of pipeline creation and contract wins, including opportunity shaping and capture execution.
- Demonstrated ability to manage fast-turn small to mid-size service deals & experience capturing $10M+ deals.
- Demonstrated success in achieving annual sales targets of $15M or more.
- Experience with enterprise IT, cloud, cyber, zero trust, network modernization, data/AI, or mission applications in DOW environments.
- Strong executive communication skills: can brief strategy, write clear capture artifacts, and influence internally and externally.
- Comfort operating in ambiguity with limited resources; able to prioritize high-probability pursuits and drive decisions.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD security clearance
Preferred
- Experience positioning and winning on relevant vehicles (examples: GSA MAS, NASA SEWP, CIO-SP3/CIO-SP4, Army ITES/RS3/TTES, DISA vehicles, and other DoD/GWAC/IDIQ pathways-tailor to your environment).
- Proven success moving from Small Business (SB) set-asides to larger full-and-open pursuits through prime/sub strategies, joint ventures, mentor-protégé arrangements, or strategic partnerships.
