Job Description:
The Component Engineering (CE) Team supports St. Louis Area production programs (F-22, T-7, MQ25, F/A-18, F-15, Weapons, etc.)and is currently seeking Electrical Component and Obsolescence Management Early Career Engineer with a desire to develop into a Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) expert while working among industry experts, working on legacy programs as well as the future aircrafts, weapons, and technologies. This position is located in Berkeley, Missouri.
Position Responsibilities:
• Applies engineering knowledge of electrical and electronic components in evaluating alternate replacements of obsolete parts
• Conducts proactive obsolescence forecasting and monitoring using Component Monitoring and Surveillance Tools, Predictive Obsolescence Systems, OEM/Supplier surveys, etc.
• Monitors Government-Industry Data Exchange Program (GIDEP) alerts and provide obsolescence status reports to the programs and Department of Defense (DoD) customers (Navy, Air Force, Army, etc.)
• Develops obsolescence mitigation possibilities and business case analyses supporting recommended resolution options
• Prepares presentation material to communicate DMSMS Case issues and proposed resolutions to customers and programs
• Supports periodic DMSMS meetings with internal and external DoD and Industry Customers on programs
• Helps prepare customer contractual deliverable plans and required reports
• Supports Management of obsolescence mitigation processes within Product/Program IPTs
• Supports enterprise teams with other BR&T SMEs from across the enterprise
• Understanding of Aircraft and Weapons design/requirements to recommend new and Alternate electrical components for new product development and legacy programs
• Assists in the implementation of DoD Parts Management Program (PMP).
• Assists programs in identifying and mitigating obsolescence risks.
Must Have Competencies:
• Knowledgeable of basic electronic components (resistors, capacitors, diodes, inductors, transformers, connectors, integrated circuits, etc.) and how to research alternate components using data sheets and other Internet resources
• Strong evidence of ability to work as part of a team and familiarity with the idea of working within a hierarchal organization
• Good writing and communication skills in addition to a focus on attention to detail.
• Understanding the concept of obsolete parts and evaluating alternate parts
Nice to Have Competencies:
• Experience in any military aerospace discipline.
• Component evaluation experience with industry/military standards (SAE, Mil-specs, ASTMs, IEEE…)
• Experience with SOWS/ SSOWs or ensuring deliverables for customers
• Experience with component level design and part selection, including both "from scratch" designs and searching for alternate part substitutions within an established system/circuit.
• Experience with testing and troubleshooting electrical systems and parts, any manufacturing experience
• Experience incorporating Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) lab testing and qualification
Education / Experience:
Bachelor's degree and typically 2 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with experience in an engineering classification.
