Job Description
Position Description/Summary:

The Building People, LLC, has a position open for a full-time plumber. The Plumber will have the responsibility of maintaining, testing, modifying, adjusting and repairing Water distribution and sewage collection systems, water mains, distribution systems, and backflow preventers, steam distribution and condensate return lines, including regulating devices and traps, Natural gas distribution and fuel oil distribution lines, systems, and associated components, Plumbing fixtures and equipment, Underground sanitary and storm sewer lines, Compressed air lines, Compressed gas lines, Installation of new water lines, Installation of new pumps and related equipment, Vacuum Lines, and All pipe insulation.

Responsibilities/Duties:
  • Plumber will inspect, maintain, test, modify, adjust and repair plumbing related systems, and components. These activities include, but are not limited to:
  • Inspecting equipment, systems, and piping to ensuring proper operation and prevention of leaks
  • Lubricating plumbing related machinery and equipment
  • Insulating new plumbing lines and repaired piping systems
  • Clearing clogged drains and sewage lines
  • Adjusting and repairing leaking joints, faucets, pipes, etc.
  • Repairing pumps and valves
  • Replacing seals and couplings
  • Resetting loose commodes and sinks; unclogging, repairing, and replacing commodes and sinks
  • Installing, connecting, and replacing steam, gas, and water lines to laboratory equipment
  • Cleaning storm sewers and catch basins
  • Maintaining and repairing plumbing waste lines and valves
  • Cutting or drilling holes and openings in walls and floors and setting sleeves, thimbles, or inserts providing passage and support for pipe and fittings
  • Checking and replacing meters and gauges
  • Painting replaced piping services ensuring proper coding/identification and color consistency
  • Replacing valve seats and washers


Skills & Requirements
Required:
  • Five (5) years of experience at the journeyman-level plumber
  • Must hold a C-36 Plumbing License issues by Contractors State License Board (CSLB)
  • Backflow Tester and Cross-Connection Contral Specialist Certification is a plus
  • Must have the communication skills required to interface and coordinate with other technicians.
  • Experience working from building plans, blueprints, plumbing diagrams, engineering drawings, and related plumbing maintenance and repair manuals.
  • Capable of performing physical labor including, walking, standing, lift up to 40lbs, pulling, climbing up and down ladders and agility/dexterity to perform duties assigned.
