Job Title: CMDB Modernization Engineer (D42)

Pay Rate: $65.00 – $85.00/hour
Position Overview
SNI Technology / Paladin is seeking a skilled CMDB Modernization Engineer to support a high-visibility enterprise IT modernization effort. This role focuses on designing, building, and optimizing CMDB capabilities within the Device42 (D42) platform to support mission-critical ITSM, cybersecurity, and operational initiatives.
This is a fully onsite position at Hill AFB and requires an active Secret clearance.
Key Responsibilities
Build and configure CMDB structures, CI types, and relationship mappings within the D42 platform in support of program deliverables.
Implement and configure discovery tool integrations to enable automated identification and inventory of enterprise IT assets.
Develop and maintain data pipeline integrations between D42 and enterprise systems (monitoring, network management, ITSM).
Design and implement integrations between Device42 and Jira/Confluence platforms to support change management, service delivery, and governance workflows.
Perform configuration mapping, data normalization, and data quality remediation to ensure CMDB accuracy and consistency.
Collaborate with engineering teams to validate CI relationships and resolve data discrepancies.
Develop and maintain CMDB governance documentation, including CI schemas, integration runbooks, and discovery configurations.
Identify and resolve discovery gaps, stale CI records, and mapping errors to improve CMDB reliability.
Support sprint planning activities by providing technical input, estimates, and progress updates.
Partner with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to ensure CMDB solutions align with mission and program objectives.
Required Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
Certifications:
Active Secret Clearance (Required)
ITIL Foundation or higher (Preferred)
CompTIA Network+ or equivalent (Preferred)
ServiceNow Certified System Administrator or CMDB-related certification (Preferred)
Experience:
5+ years of experience in IT asset management, CMDB engineering, or configuration management in enterprise or federal environments
Hands-on experience with Device42 or similar CMDB platforms (e.g., ServiceNow CMDB, Lansweeper)
Experience with IT asset discovery tools and data pipeline integrations
Strong background in configuration mapping, data normalization, and data quality remediation
Experience supporting Air Force or Hill AFB environments (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge:
CMDB architecture, CI data models, and relationship mapping methodologies
IT asset discovery approaches (agent-based, agentless, network scanning)
ITSM principles, CMDB governance, and data lifecycle management
Skills:
Configuring and administering Device42 (CI classes, relationships, discovery, integrations)
Data quality management, including resolving duplicate records and mapping gaps
Technical documentation development (runbooks, schemas, configuration guides)
Abilities:
Collaborate across engineering and ITSM teams to ensure CMDB accuracy
Manage multiple priorities in a sprint-based delivery environment
Maintain high data quality standards while meeting project timelines
