Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is looking for you to join our team as a Precision Electromechanical Assembler 2 (Second Shift) based out of Rolling Meadows, IL.

What you'll get to do :
  • Perform a variety of operations to assemble precision electromechanical products.
  • Perform tasks such as honing and operating manual equipment; uses precision measuring instruments to ensure conformance to a specified tolerance. Assembles, disassembles, repairs, and reassembles precision assemblies and corrects malfunctions.
  • Assemble and modify prototype precision units for engineering personnel.
  • Monitor and verify quality by statistical processes or other control procedures.
  • Perform accurate data/record keeping.
  • Perform tasks according to the company's electrostatic discharge (ESD) procedures.
  • Work from designs, work instructions, and verbal instructions.
  • Complete in-house Solder, Optics, ESD, and FOD certifications.
  • Use Microsoft Office products.


The ideal candidate must be able to communicate, read, understand, work using a microscope, work with small mechanical parts, fiber optic cables, and follow standard operating procedures and assembly instructions.

Basic Qualifications Precision Electromechanical Assembler 2 :
  • High School diploma, or equivalent, and a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship Required


Preferred Qualifications Precision Electromechanical Assembler 2 :
  • Experience performing the assembly of the products using standard electromechanical techniques and basic handheld tools with good dexterity.
  • Experience in soldering by specified workmanship standards.
  • Experience with shop safety practices and procedures during assembly operations.
  • Experience with pusher furnace, vac furnace, and exhaust stations.
  • Experience with Sunnen manual honing.
  • Experience with Haas Mill, Lathe, CNC, and manual machines.
  • Experience using measuring tools such as caliper, micrometer, and height gauge.
  • Experience reading Blue prints
  • Experience in handling/cleaning optics and optic assemblies.


Additional Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent manual dexterity.
  • Position involves repetitive tasks and prolonged standing; the candidate should be able to manage these physical demands effectively.
  • Must be comfortable working with hazardous chemicals and cleaning solutions, with a focus on rigorous adherence to safety protocols. Selected candidate will handle hazardous chemicals, baths, and cleaning solutions safely as part of the assembly process.
  • Follow all related safety guidelines
  • Ability to work overtime, including staying after normal working hours and weekend work when needed

Primary Level Salary Range: $45,100.00 - $75,100.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
