Description:THE WORK
The work will be focused on design, analysis, and integration of various mechanical subsystems in Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV), Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV), Manned Submersibles,
Subsea Systems and supporting systems such as launch and recovery, maintenance, and transportation systems. Supports conceptual, preliminary and detailed design of various subsystems of underwater vehicles and involved with assembly, integration and testing of the vehicle and support systems.
WHO YOU ARE
The candidate will collaborate with other disciplines and stakeholders to determine interfaces and systems requirements. Individual must be able to conduct trade studies and support design and develop mechanical mechanisms, structural, electromechanical, and hydraulic subsystems. Interface with various suppliers for selection of candidate subsystem hardware. Integrate candidate subsystem hardware and components.

Basic Qualifications:
Broad background in mechanical/structural/hydraulic engineering:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
• Experience with design, analysis, integration and development of vehicle systems.
• Detailed knowledge and understanding of unmanned systems requirements, vehicle propulsion, control and actuation subsystems, integration, and system test.
• Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build effective working relationships is a must.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. Proven ability to communicate well with peers and different levels of management.
• Demonstrated ability to provide clear guidance and direction to team while multi-tasking and prioritizing competing requirements.
• Thinks strategically, possess a focus on Mission Success and Continuous Improvement and act as change agent in responsible area with focus on affordability and advancing technical capabilities and innovation.
• Must exhibit leadership for executing practical application of mechanical engineering processes on a development program and maintaining engineering rigor while balancing cost, technical, and schedule.
Desired Skills:
Previous experience in design and development of manned /unmanned underwater vehicles and subsystems for underwater vehicles
• Understanding & Experience with Baseline Management Planning and Functional Test Elements
• Experience with model based system engineering (MBSE) for system development
• Experience with ANSYS (Mechanical/Icepak/Fluent), Star-CCM+, MathCAD and Creo
• Ideal candidate will personally enjoy helping subordinates, colleagues, and associates through coaching, mentoring, career counseling, and technical help.
• Experience with the development of performance specification and statement of work (SOW) for vendor selection process.
Security Clearance Statement: This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
Clearance Level: Top Secret with Investigation or CV date within 5 years

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
