SUMMARY:

The Floor Technician is responsible for performing specialized floor care services to maintain the appearance, cleanliness, and longevity of hard-surface floors and carpeted areas. This role requires skilled operation of floor machines and the ability to complete projects such as stripping, waxing, burnishing, buffing, carpet extraction, and deep cleaning.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform stripping, waxing, buffing, burnishing, and refinishing of hard-surface floors.
  • Operate floor care equipment including low-speed buffers, high-speed burnishers, auto-scrubbers, and wet/dry vacuums.
  • Extract and deep-clean carpets using commercial extractors.
  • Clean and maintain equipment, ensuring proper operation and safety.
  • Sweep, scrub, and prep floors prior to finishing applications.
  • Apply finish coats evenly and safely while following required dry-time standards.
  • Monitor floor conditions and identify when refinishing or repairs are needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures, particularly around chemicals, PPE, and slip hazards.
  • Move furniture and set up/take down work areas as needed.
  • Work independently or as part of a project team to complete floor care schedules on time.
  • Communicate with supervisors regarding progress, supplies, and any site issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.


EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND LICENSURE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Prior experience in floor care preferred (commercial or industrial).
  • Ability to safely operate commercial floor machines.
  • Knowledge of chemical handling, dilution, and safety requirements.
  • Ability to lift, move, and transport equipment and furniture as needed.
  • Ability to lift, bend, walk, stand, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow a cleaning schedule.
  • Reliability and consistent attendance.
  • Ability to retain or obtain a background/security clearance commensurate with the position.
  • Ability to work independently while consistently adhering to all safety and security policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is performed indoors with some potential risks to safety and health hazards.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to lift/carry 50 pounds, push/pull 50 pounds, stand, sit, bend, kneel and walk for extended periods.

Must be able to perform routine, repetitive tasks continuously.

Must be able to work around food and cleaning products

WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE:

DoD Secret or higher security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS:

As a condition of employment, must pass a pre-employment drug screening, as well as have acceptable reference and background check results.
