Duties
Help
  • You will provide program management for MSC Afloat cybersecurity programs to ensure shipboard compliance and implementation of cybersecurity requirements.
  • You will interpret, create, disseminate, and enforce cybersecurity policies for MSC Afloat commands.
  • You will provide oversight of the network boundary protections for Afloat units and systems by ensuring the configuration, installation, and maintenance of IA devices such as firewalls, proxy servers, and routers.
  • You will provide oversight of the information assurance vulnerability management (IAVM) process for MSC Afloat commands.
  • You will perform cybersecurity assessments for Afloat commands and systems and ensure they are operating within an acceptable level of risk.
  • You will provide cybersecurity training and assistance to Afloat commands cybersecurity workforce.
  • You will implement and manage the information systems security management program for MSC Afloat commands.

  • This is a Cyberspace Workforce position, work role code 722, proficiency level INTERMEDIATE the incumbent is required to obtain and maintain qualifications in DoDM 8140.03 Cyber Workforce Qualification and Department of Navy policies.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Experience working with operations staff to mitigate vulnerabilities or elevate findings to engineering for a resolution of new ideas.
  • Experience coordinating with onsite security support staff to ensure that users have the required security investigations, clearances, and authorizations.
  • Experience reviewing network and system audit trails, resolving discrepancies, and reporting incidents to the command for evaluation and reporting.
  • Experience initiating protective or corrective measures when a cybersecurity incident or vulnerability is discovered and ensuring that a process is in place for authorized users to report cybersecurity-related events, potential incidents, threats, and vulnerabilities.
  • Experience providing direct support to afloat program management, service execution, and mission support as needed to highlight how decisions may impact the security posture of cyber and communication infrastructures.

Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate.
