Job Description

Duties

  • You will plan and execute a program to ensure surveillances, audits, evaluations and assessments are accomplished to determine the adequacy of Engineering and Planning.
  • You will utilize advanced troubleshooting and analysis techniques to identify technical problems through the collection, evaluation, analysis, and dissemination of hull, mechanical, and electrical systems data.
  • You will assist departments in developing solutions to submarine hull, mechanical, and electrical systems problems.
  • You will plan and execute a program to validate the quality of critical work and components (SUBSAFE, Level I, DSS/SOC, nuclear, high-pressure piping and pressure vessels, pressure hull structure).
  • You will oversee execution of chemical and mechanical testing and analysis of metals and materials.
  • You will work closely with the department heads responsible to ensure that proper long-term corrective actions are assigned, completed, and eventually validated.
  • You will review/approve audit and evaluation reports and documents, either prepared by the Quality Assurance Organization or others, for technical and QA aspects.
  • You will conduct surveillances of various processes to include nuclear and non-nuclear maintenance, paint and preservation, crane safety, radiological controls, etc.

  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • Incumbent is required to maintain qualification as a Critique Chairperson and Radiation Worker.
  • This position is designated as IT-Level II.
  • Some lifting may be required. A generally recognized limit for a normal unassisted lift is 40 pounds.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
  • Experience conducting Quality Assurance audits, surveillances, and critique findings, analysis of deficiency trends, providing status of outstanding actions, schedules of upcoming audits and evaluations in accordance with the Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) to ensure TRIREFFAC performs mission related functions efficiently and effectively.
  • Experience utilizing knowledge of quality assurance/submarine to perform maintenance and repair in the mechanical or electrical trades including submarine maintenance, radiological control compliance, lifting and handling operations, materials conformance, non-destructive testing (NDT), certification of critical work records, and chemical and mechanical testing and analysis.
  • Experience overseeing revision of long-range work plans developed by subordinate supervisors and managers managing the overall work to enhance achieving established goals and objectives.
  • Experience in applying various methods and techniques in analyzing and investigating complex QA problems, providing solutions, technical advice and maintaining a corrective action program.
