Job Summary

Galapagos Federal Systems LLC is looking for an External Audits and Inquiries Analyst supporting SAF/SQ (Secretary of the Air Force for Space Acquisition and Integration) position. This role offers the opportunity to work with a diverse and talented group of individuals committed to driving success.

The ideal candidates will provide analytical and coordination support for external oversight activities affecting the Department of the Air Force space acquisition programs. This role supports responses to audits, inspections, and formal inquiries from external oversight organizations including the Government Accountability Office (GAO), Department of Defense Inspector General (DoD IG), Congressional committees, and other regulatory bodies.

The analyst works closely with SAF/SQ leadership, program offices, financial management teams, and compliance organizations to coordinate audit responses, track corrective actions, and ensure timely and accurate submission of required documentation. This position supports transparency, accountability, and compliance across Air Force and U.S. Space Force space acquisition initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

The External Audits and Inquires Analyst will:
  • Coordinate responses to external audits, inspections, and oversight inquiries affecting SAF/SQ programs and activities
  • Support responses to audits and reviews conducted by organizations such as the Government Accountability Office (GAO), DoD Inspector General (DoD IG), and Congressional oversight bodies
  • Collect, analyze, and consolidate program data, documentation, and supporting materials required for audit responses and inquiries
  • Track and manage audit findings, recommendations, and corrective action plans to ensure compliance and timely resolution
  • Coordinate with program offices, acquisition teams, financial management staff, and compliance organizations to gather required information and documentation
  • Develop reports, briefings, and executive summaries related to audit activities and oversight inquiries
  • Maintain tracking systems for audit requests, responses, corrective actions, and compliance status
  • Support internal reviews and process assessments to identify potential compliance issues and recommend improvements
  • Assist in preparing leadership for external reviews, inspections, and oversight engagements
  • Ensure responses and documentation comply with DoW, Department of the Air Force, and federal oversight requirements


Responsibilities

Skills and Experience

The External Audits and Inquires Analyst must have:
  • Active Top Secret security clearance with SCI
  • Experience supporting audit coordination, compliance activities, or oversight responses within a DoW, Air Force, or federal government environment
  • Knowledge of federal audit processes, oversight activities, and compliance requirements
  • Familiarity with GAO, DoD IG, and Congressional oversight procedures
  • Experience working with acquisition programs, financial management, or program oversight activities
  • Ability to analyze program documentation, financial data, and operational processes to support audit responses
  • Strong organizational and task management skills to track multiple audit actions, deadlines, and corrective measures
  • Experience preparing reports, executive briefings, and formal documentation for leadership
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify compliance risks and process improvement opportunities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders within headquarters and program offices

Education and Certifications

The External Audits and Inquires Analyst must meet the following:

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Public Administration, Finance, Program Management, or National Security Studies

Preferred
  • Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA), Public Administration (MPA), Accounting, or a related field
  • Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM)
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA)
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Defense Acquisition Workforce Certification (DAWIA / DAWIA-equivalent) in Program Management or Acquisition
  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Professional certifications related to audit, compliance, or federal program oversight

Security Clearance

Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense active security clearance is/may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time and typing and reading from a computer screen. The candidate must have enough mobility, including bending, reaching, and kneeling, to complete daily duties in a prompt and efficient manner, and that may include lifting up to thirty pounds, as necessary.
