Job Description:
Verifies routine product conformance to design requirements.
Provides objective evidence of results. Performs auditing, surveillance and monitoring.
Identifies and documents discrepancies.
Segregates and controls non-conforming items.
Conducts product review with customer during product or process verification.
Identifies repetitive or significant non-conformances and initiates requests for corrective action.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
High School Diploma or GED is typically the minimum requirement.
Proficiency in using precision measuring instruments: Calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges, etc. are routinely used to verify dimensions and tolerances.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and engineering specifications: Essential for comparing received items against design requirements.
Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook): Essential for documentation, report generation, and communication.
Strong attention to detail: A critical requirement for meticulous examination of materials and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Relevant experience, 2-4 years, in quality inspection, especially in manufacturing or related environments like aerospace, is highly valued.
Experience with First Article Inspections (FAI): Ensuring initial production runs meet specifications.
Familiarity with quality standards and specifications: Understanding industry guidelines (like AS9100 in aerospace) and internal company standards.
Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma principles: Can be beneficial for process improvement.
Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) (e.g., SAP, Oracle): Used for managing inventory, tracking orders, and documenting inspection results.
Experience using quality management software (e.g., TIPQA): For managing inspection processes and documentation.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills: To identify root causes of defects, analyze inspection data, and recommend corrective actions.
Education / Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through basic education (e.g. High School diploma/GED) and typically 1 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. vocational school/Associate).
