Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Integrate cross-program safety disciplines into the architecture, requirements, and design of the next-generation Re-Entry Body Assemblies (RBA's) and Sea Launched Cruise Missile - Nuclear (SLCM-N).
  • Ensure adherence to Nuclear Safety, Range Safety, and Personnel Safety requirements and best practices.
  • Ensure integration of Surety products such as Hazard Analyses, Fault Tree Analyses, and similar products to ensure full Surety coverage across the system throughout the entire lifecycle.
  • Support Initial Safety Studies (ISSs), Operational Safety Studies (OSRs) and Special Safety Studies (SSS).
  • Generate & Review Project material for RBA Support Equipment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review, analyze, and validate DOW and DOE systems to ensure they meet nuclear surety requirements.
  • Review nuclear surety requirements in support of Navy Technical Objectives Guidelines (TOG), recommend improvements, and apply system engineering best practices for requirement trace and validation.
  • Provide technical guidance on nuclear weapon system (NWS) safety to SSP.
  • Review strategic weapon system certification processes and activities to ensure objective quality evidence and artifacts required for safety, security, control, and reliability certifications are identified, defined, understood, and accessible to sponsors.
  • Develop nuclear surety risk assessment methodologies, models, and probabilities of occurrence for nuclear weapon mishap scenarios and assess mitigating factors.
  • Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to ensure the safety and security of nuclear systems.
  • Analyze vulnerabilities and security risks, to include support to authorized special read-in programs.
  • Prepare technical products, reports, and deliverables to sponsors and stakeholders.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's (with 8-10 years of experience), Master's degree (with 6-8 years of experience), or PhD degree (with 3 - 5 years of experience) in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field. Education can be substituted for military service and subject matter expert knowledge on nuclear programs.
  • Must possess and be able to maintain a Top Secret clearance.
  • Proven track record managing programs within the DoD 5000.02 framework and the Phase 6.X joint lifecycle.
  • Strong background in Systems Integration, including resolving hardware/software interface issues in a "System of Systems" environment.
  • Exceptional ability to translate complex technical data into actionable executive briefings.
  • A passion for learning, helping others, sharing team knowledge, and contributing value to the mission in any way possible.

Desired:

  • Prior Submarine Navy Officer.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and chair formal working groups with external stakeholders (DOE, NNSA, AFNWC).
  • SSP Experience.
  • Willingness to learn and become a subject matter expert with various system engineering tools.

Equal Pay Act

This is the projected compensation range for this position. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories.
